w203 DIY valve cover gasket
I'm gonna be changing my driver side valve cover gasket on my C55 and wanted to know if any of you fellow motor heads have taken on the task. My main concern is removing the clips on the coils as I don't want to force anything. Is there a special tool?

I don't know if the w203 has more space in the engine bay than the w202, but it is a job which can be done by any person knowing basic mechanics. If you have a set of good tools then it's relatively easy. You do need torx bits to remove the individual coils from the valve cover(s) and you have to be clean to avoid cr*p getting inside the engine. Don't forget to remove ALL traces of gasket glue from the valve covers and apply a nice bead of glue on both sides of the gasket.
If you do both valve covers, as I'm certain the other side will spring a leak in the (near?) future as all M113 and M112 engines will leak one day or another from the valve gaskets, CHANGE the spark plugs at the same time when the covers are off. Access to the plugs will be SO much easier, at least it is on w202's...

I did it in my c230k, havent done it yet on my C55. But I do know its straight forward. A bit time consuming taking everything apart but easily done in one afternoon if you just buckle down and do it. And ya like they said make sure you scrape all the existing sealant off and put down a decent layer. Not too much though.

I have done it twice on the m113. You will need to disconnect the fuel line for the drivers side. The last spark plug wires and getting the plugs out are a PITA. I used victor reinz sealant for the half moons. Make sure you get the valve cover gasket sitting correctly before tightening everything up

when you do it, take pictures and make it a DIY since one doesn't exist for it on our cars. Just a thought.

My passenger side just sprung a leak.
I know I'm in the wrong forum but my engine is also an M113 so it should be the same procedure.
I'll be documenting the replacement and will post the pics when I'm done
I'm already in there right now to replace my throttle body plug connector (issue from another install); which is how I discovered the leak.

This is perfect! Thank you!
It's exactly this plus 2 cylinders! Maybe I don't need to take any pics then!
