Catalytic converter
For those who have removed it, did you experience any malfunctions? Was there any black smoke accumulating on the exhaust tips/bumper? Was there any “check engine” warning lights? Because as I recall, I have replaced the exhaust system on my less sophisticated Mustang Cobra with non-cat exhaust and all the above signs were observed. I want to replace the rear cat with a straight flanged pipe to be used only on off road applications then reinstall the cat once done. By the way how much rear HP it accounts for when removed?

Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG (R 230) and CLK 55 (W 209)
In Germany this would be illegal due to the amount of emissions and even tax evasion. Anyway, you would also have to send a false signal to the lamda-probes placed before and after the catalytic converter. Otherwise you'll get nothing but error messages.
May I ask why you are even thinking about doing this?

i had two of the cats removed. the other two that are closer to the motor are more difficult to get to, so i never touched them. In place of the cats we put pipes and drilled holes in for the sensors to screw on. I havnt seen any check light yet... it been about 30kmiles.
you'll notice some drop in low end torque but on after about 2500 rpms it gets through the band faster and with a lot less effort. Also there's a harder and faster kick when you floor it and it downshifts.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
Dont do it... first youll fail inspection... sure youll get more hp... but after you cut out the cat... you cant get it serviced... the dealership BY LAW cannot let you leave without a cat cuz of emissions... but it might be different in your state, but i doubt it.
