Any AZ members out there?
I went to the Pavillion Cruise In Scottsdale last night for the first time. I would guess about 300-400 cars. With the exception of my car and a sick wide body SL that rolled through, not one other MB. I know C32bob is from the area, but out of town for a while.
Any other W203 around here? I live in Mesa, looking to meet up with others.
Thanks, Mike.
Moderator- can I duplicated this thread on the non-AMG W203 forum?

Was there a lot of old American stuff?

I'm in north Phoenix. My friend goes there often with his - dare I say it - E34 M5. I should be careful because I have one in my garage too but the C55 is my new daily :-). Would definitely be interested if there was a meet sometime.

I should be there this weekend if the weather holds out. Silver C32.

There's something special about that S38! Or shall I say the $38!
I just drove the M to work yesterday and the moment you drive off, it's just a different feeling. And the way the power builds right up to redline, accompanied by the sound is just raw, and tremendously satisfying. Same for the C55. Effortless power AND comfort AND easy maintenance AND great mileage wrapped up in a sleeper package. PERFECT!

All things considered our M5 wasn't that bad maintenance-wise. Worst bits were front suspension bushings and brake rotors. Went through five sets of rotors on warranty even though the car was never tracked.

Basically a full rebuild of an S38 would run anywhere from about $12k and up, depending on what you are doing. The previous owner of my M5 did a rebuild at 100K miles after seriously bad leak down issues in Cyl 4. It cost him $20k. Unfortunately, it is said to be the inevitable fate of every S38. It really is a work of art engine and worth keeping it going given the right resources, time and of course, money.

I still have the factory S38 valve adjust tool if you ever need one. That's one place where the C55 beats the M5, no messing around with valve shims.
