just sold my 2002 c32, xenon, washers, wheels with 13,400 miles, mint cond. for $39,000. 44% loss OUCH!!! bought an e55 so i think im done for a longer while but face it, m3's don't lose that much value. our c32's don't seem to hold up well. in fact, valley motors in MD where i bought my e wouldnt even buy my c32!!!

that i said F-it & kept mine! I figured with the #'s I was getting I could barely replace it with a new c230k coupe w. similar options.

Damn, that sucks. I wonder why the resale value is so low?

dd_kota, was that private party or dealer trade-in?
These things aren't holding their value worth a damn!

My '03 is for sale now. Silver, on star, xenons, rain sensing wipers, 6-disc CD, 18,000 miles. Two sets of tires both with about 75% treadlife included. Looking for around $44K.
look on traderonline or autotrader.com (same thing) there's an 02 with 30k miles for $32,000. sold to private individual. had it listed on line, paper and auto trader for 2 months.

Oh my god! When I bought my C240 new it was like 37K and they BARELY wanted to budge on the price(when they first came out). Those prices are TOO tempting for a buyer....but I feel bad for the sellers

OUCH! I guess you don't want to know what the c240s are going for now. According to the C-spot driving event, new ones are going for around low $30k well equipped and under $30k with bare amenities.

The value of a MB goes down faster than a Saturday night hooker...
I purchased an '03 SLK320 from Autohaus (aka, Pompous House) for $49,000. When I went back to them a [b]year later[b] to inquire about trading for another vehicke, they offered me $35,000. I politely said f**k off, and sold it privately for $41,000, never to return to that place.
Vehicles have, and always will be a depreciating asset.

Your "hooker" theory is rivaled only by BMW and Audi!
Sheesh, you can pick up a friggin' LOADED M3 for a song. Don't even get me started on what you can procure an A6 for. Depriciation with a capital "D", baby!
I still love my M-B, and the resale is all relative. A lot of the poor resale prices in general are related to the impatience and/or ingnorance of the sellers.

Wow, I feel really good about the "Deal"on received on my car.
Patience is definately a factor and it paid off. Private owner is the only way to go.

If you really want "dick" you're on the wrong board, jackass.
Judging from the mentality of your post, your ad probably went something like this:
"Yo, Beyaatches. 2003 Mercedes Bizzzenz for sale. Straight up dope. Stupid cheap. Peace."

Because 90% of the public would rather have an M3 than a C32...
guys, chill!!
dd_kota's car would've worth more if it wasn't modded. I think he's car's been on the autotrader for 2 months because of the same reason. No one will want to buy a car that's modded by the previous owner.
as far as the M3 hold it's value, it's TRUE...lol but $2k difference between the 02 C32 and the 02 M3 SMG with compareble options ain't that bad because the M3 with compareble options would cost more to start.

Ask the automotive savy and it may be a different story, but this is how I feel public perception exists. The M3 is more likely to be in a Fast in the Furious type movie than the C32. So be it.
can't blame'em, the M3 has been there since the late 80's and the M Gmbh has been in racing since the 70s. It's always been more popular then the AMG.

True. Just pick anyone on the street and ask them to choose C32 or M3, majority will sure pick M3. Not sure why?? maybe its 2 doors. Even my younger brother who prefer Mercedes than BMW choose M3.Originally posted by FrankW

You guys take this emotional vehicle attachment thing to whole new level. It's a car and there is no need to become vulgar over one.
I should have said "Because it is a luxury vehicle"...
My point was that ALL vehicles are depreciating assets and you will always lose money, regardless of what vehicle you purchase.
MB's are great vehicles, but they do depreciate quite fast, given their high cost.
The same holds true for all luxury vehicles, less Bentley's. They, for some reason, seem to not depreciate as fast as other vehicles

I kind of like driving the "sleeper" vehicle if you know what I mean. It's nice seeing the look of shock on BMW drivers' faces when I put the hammer down!
