My C55 subwoofer is rattling, I installed another one and it still sounds bad, like it continues rattling!!!

Is it supposed to sound like this?

just curious, have you checked the audio equalizer settings to confirm the bass levels arent through the roof? could it be amp issues?

Hi MadHal,

Did you install same HK unit 2nd time? If you can test another brand, and still rattles, amp the source?

check your rear window shade; when it starts to rattle put it up and see if it goes away

Speaker grill rattle...

On my car it was the speaker grill over the subwoofer. The subwoofer is under the drivers side speaker grill on the rear deck panel. It was just a little loose and made a lot of racket. I just took a strip of thin black wire and stuck it under the edge. It also did the same thing on my wifes 230.

you put a piece of "wire" under the back panel to make the rattle stop?

Just a short piece of very light gauge black wire under the edge of the grill to fill the gap. The grill was dancing around due to clearance between the grill and the deck area its set into. You cant even tell the wire is even under the edge of the grill but it worked.

oh you put it inbetween the actually grille and the deck plate. I thought you meant actually under the deck plate and the deck.

I didnt even know that could rattle on the deck plate since the deck plate is covered in cloth
