Automotive Ramp Recommendations
I have been using a jack and stands for years, but ever since I acquired the AMG (with the basically sealed underbody) it's harder to find useable jack points. Since I am also helping my Dad rebuild a '41 Chevy, I figure it would be handy and a nice investment to get a set of ramps.
I am looking for recommendations or models to avoid based on your experiences. You guys are used to heavier cars and will have dealt with the same front fascia/clearance when driving onto the ramp. Saving money is great, but I'll pass on anything not bulletproof. Thanks for any guidance.

I have ramps for my old cars but can't use them on the C55 as the front bumper clashes with them. I have to use two floor jacks and then jack stands.

I built my own ramps out of a few 2''x10'' boards for my corvette and have used them on every other car ive worked on. They are not very light but get the job done and when standing on their ends only take up a square foot of room in the garage if that.
I went this route because almost every option i looked at when i first got my corvette(notoriously long front facia) were upwards of 200 bucks. Granted those ramps are more portable, but in my case that wasnt an issue. I can snap some pics of mine if you want.

That is a good idea- I'm not sure I would trust a lot of what I've seen out there. Hey, if its no trouble, I would love to see pictures of how you structured them. If they fit a Corvette, they will work just fine on my cars!
Thanks

Check out Reverse Logic. They have jack pad adaptors, and also adaptors to fit onto jackstands.

If you also go to my C55 thread, I have some shots of them. Maverick, however, found that you can buy the Torin aluminum jackstands from Amazon cheaper than if you buy them from Reverse Logic directly. That said, the quality of the Reverse Logic stuff is great, and the proprietor is very helpful and responds very quickly by email.

Those jack pad adapters are an interesting find, in your c55 thread I see you picked up the 203 one with extension for AMGs. How did it perform for you? I have a nice floor jack and stands that I would like to continue to use- it seems to me the reverse logic adapter ends up creating a nice surface for most any jack to contact and lift. Might have to pick one up.
Thanks again guys!

The jack pad adaptor is quite nice, but the AMG extension wasn't necessary. I've kept it anyway, but there was sufficient clearance to jack it up without it. Might depend on the jack pad design though.
I actually just used it for the first time last weekend to swap over to the winter tires. No problems, and now I don't have to worry about mucking up the plastic jack point on the car. I mangled the originals.

Here's another neat product:
http://www.jackpointjackstands.com/
Basically, it allows you to jack up and place the stand on the exact same place as where you jack it up. Helpful if there isn't a lot of space to jack up and place a jackstand.
But if I ever get a big enough garage, I'd definitely get a hoist for sure.

I have a scissor lift from Greg Smith Equipement and I really like that!

The only problem, I need a ramp in 2x10 because may car is to low for the lift.

All of those are great options but most people dont want to spend 400 on ramps or 2 grand on mini lifts. I'll snap some pics of my ramps when I get home for you OP

Would love to see what you have also. I am looking, but spending 2K on a lift, I would rather spend that on go fast stuff ;-)

Thanks for all the recommendations guys! Enigma: I would dig some pics of your build when you get the chance as that would be pretty cost effective and made to spec.
Some of these solutions out there are mindbogglingly inventive, almost gives me faith in the human race!
