Finally got the TCC solenoid in the mail and still waiting on one shop to call me back about seeing if they can replace just the solenoid without replacing the whole valve body (ridiculous I tell you). Meanwhile, I found this little cool video on a conductor plate DIY and in the video it clearly shows how easy it would be to replace just the solenoid.

Installing the solenoids is so easy, i'm wondering why they could not do it..

Alright, an update on my current situation:
My car felt sluggish the last month and didn't seem to respond to the transmission reset with the pedal like it used to.
I have had some issues I believe can be attributed to the PWM Solenoid for a little while now, but over the last weekend my car had a couple of hard shifts and the car finally dropped into limp mode locking me in third. It started feeling really sickly yesterday- so much that I started thinking fresh transmission & big $$$. I dropped the car off with my trusty indie last night and just now got off the phone with him...
He is certain that it needs the conductor plate replaced, but recommends that I replace the entire tranny valve body along with all solenoids at the same time. We hash it out and if I intend to keep the car for a while (which I do) the only reasonable decision is to replace it all...
Quoted $1350 out the door including parts/labor/fluids. FAR better than a whole rebuilt transmission...

Wow, $1350 for the entire valve body, conductor plate, solenoids, everything?? That sounds like a damn good deal to me!

I'm happy to hear that! He quoted $700 on the conductor plate job alone but strongly recommended the whole nine yards! He drives his own NA S55 daily so he has been a great asset to me!

So I thought I'd post an update on this. I finally received the correct solenoid for the tcc. Originally I was sent a brown top soft solenoid. Anyways got both installed today ... Tcc and 1-2 shift solenoid (thought I might as well use it)

May I say jerk is 99% gone! Very very occasionally I can still feel a very slight bump at 1500rpm but only because I know to look for it. Actually come to think about it... It may actually be the sc engaging rather than the tranny jerk. Either way it has solved the problem for me thanks to this forum!

I'd love to do the TCU tune ... Problem is mailing it out to texas from Australia ... Apart from being without the car for a couple of weeks there's possible loss or damage in transit to consider. :\

forgot to ask but for those who have done the replacement, does the tcc/pwm throw a code in the transmission?

Not that I know of but I had my indie reset all the adaptations so maybe that cleared any faults it may have thrown.

Same here, my mechanic may have cleared the codes but since I got the car back it's been fault-free

I just got the entire valve body, conductor plate, all solenoids, etc replaced last week... I never got a code or CEL, also nothing came up with the OBDII. My indie said there was a clear fault with the conductor plate through STAR, but nothing relating to PWM or anything else.
This service took care of the serious conductor plate issues for me and also alleviated my PWM symptoms that felt like a dragging clutch/lethargic torque converter.

Hey Guys,

Been watching this thread for a while and have been in need of a transmission flush for sometime. Anyways this afternoon I did it, took about 4.5 hours. Replaced the conductor plate, TCU Harness Socket and Installed Blue top Solenoids. My only hiccup though was RMEuropean Sent me the PWM Solenoid. From what I understand the one that needs to be replaced is the one on the side with only two solenoids. It's the only one that looks different from all the others with a small aluminum tube for the bottom side.

The part # I got from RMEuropean is 240 277 00 00. Not sure if this is a shift solenoid or a PWM Solenoid. Regardless, I did not install it and may go back in and do it since it wasn't that difficult of a job. Trans is still in Hard limp mode until I can get an SDS or another high end scanner. Will keep everyone updated once it's complete and share my experience with the Blue tops atleast.

Anyone know of a good one that can reset TCU Codes for Mercedes ?

Ok that was a quick turn around.

Got a local Indie shop with a high end scanner to take the car out of limp mode. I was slightly skeptical to use someone who wasn't MB Specific but he did specialize in foreign cars. And he was working on a Porsche and a BMW 335i in the shop when I got there. So I figured I could at least trust em with this task.

So, my experience the first thing was the trans jerk was still there. But no surprise since I didn't have the correct part to install (Will probably redo this later since I do still have quite a bit of trans fluid left over)

The second thing I notice is the increased punch from each shift. Even in comfort mode it gives a nice secure buck on every down shift. And the best and my favorite benefit was the responsiveness of the paddles/buttons in Manual mode. I've owned this car for 3 years now and learned to anticipate the transmission shifting about a second late in Manual mode.
Now NOT ANYMORE! I obviously didn't time it but its damn close to instant. Feels like a newer Gtronic transmission maybe even as quick as the 63s 7-speed and still has a pretty harsh jolt when you do. Definitely recommend this modification to all C55/CLK55 owners. Got the Bluetops from ECS Tuning for $185/solenoid. Expensive but definitely worth it, made me fall back in love with the car all over again.

Yeah I found rm European sent me the wrong part too. It's labeled "transmission solenoid" or something on their site ... Thing is it's a shift solenoid not a pwm solenoid. I got the pwm solenoid from mercedesgenuineparts and I double checked the part number with my indie before I ordered it.

Its been awhile since someone posted anything on this thread. I know there's been multiple confirmations that replacing this solenoid solved the jerk problem in their tranny when this thread was first posted a little over a year ago, but does anyone have any updates or is everything have been issue free after the installation of the PWM solenoid?

After searching for a little over a year, I finally found someone who can replace my PWM solenoid along with replacing the the rear main seal, tranny flush and tranny mount for $750 labor. i got the car back 2 days ago and OMG the jerk/lurching at low speeds that I've been so accustomed to over the past 3 years is finally gone! There's not a single trace of it whatsoever. I'm glad someone posted this thread. I guess you can consider this as another confirmed case. Thank you, amgen!

The transmission is smooth after the solenoidchange. No jerks, nothing!

Big mistake...

After that, I experienced a sudden jerk (like you´re hit from behind) at low
speed when engine and transmission were cold. After warm-up it dissappeared.

Couldn´t live with that so I let a transmissionspecialist look into it.

He took the gearbox off and changed following parts:

-converter
-both "freewheels"
-1:st, 3:rd and 4:th gears (3:rd gear looked burnt, the edges on the others
wasn´t edgesharp)
-conductorplate
-oil & filter
-all gaskets
-a greasevalve.

Got it back but the jerk was still there, but less violent.

Then he suggested to change the solenoid in the gearbox as well.

After that the gearbox performs brilliant without any jerks!!!
It goes like a dream now, really.

I suspect that loose dirt hit the solenoid at the first oilchange.

Voila, problem solved!

(It didn´t come cheap though...)
That's stupid that you had to pay for their mistake
