The slk32 subforum is dead so I thought I would post this here.

So 0-60 in 4.4 and granted gtech measurement is not 100% accurate but how 4.4 possible since stock is 4.8 seconds?

NOTE: I found out he has lightweight Konig wheels which are like 10 pounds lighter per corner!

Nice! I say that modern, high-end tires helped here if that is accurate, not that tires were that different a decade or so ago. Aren't pulleys super easy to swap for more power also? 4.4 is quick!

This guy clearly states he only had resonator delete and green filters so its pretty much stock. I can understand modern tires helping but 4.4 is crazy

res delete and green filters is nothing. Clearly, we aren't getting the whole story.

those G-Techs aren't very accurate...probably closer to 4.8 for sure

100 pounds reduced (lighter wheels and resonator delete) is roughly equal to 15 horsepower and green filters added another 5 hp. Could it realistically improve it by 0.2 seconds so 0-60 in 4.6?

One thing to keep in mind with the wheels: lighter wheels = lower moment of inertia.

10 lbs per wheel maybe drops 40 lbs off total weight of car, so doesn't really make a difference in that sense.

What makes a difference is it takes a lot less power from your engine to spin that wheel in one full revolution. That's probably the key to what's going on here, and this does make a pretty substantial difference in transferring the power from your engine to the road.

Next time you're working out at the gym, pick up a 5 lb weight and a 10 lb weight and try turning them in a circle and you'll understand what I'm getting at.

Engine power is constant so that doesn't change. Take the same amount of power to two circular objects, one is lighter than the other. The same power to the lighter object will make it spin much faster than the heavier object.

Sorry to be long-winded, but I'm trying to make it clear what I am saying.

What helps a lot is that all of that weight was unsprung, so the effect is greater. Improved acceleration, improved handling, and improved braking. 10 lbs per corner is a HUGE difference!

I agree. I went from some Brabus knockoff 19s with crappy oversized tires to the 18" monlites with Bridgestone ps04 tires and the difference was noticeable.
