ROUGH IDLE / STALL NOW FINE

Hey everyone,

On the way to the office this morning my car was horrible. Surging. Rough idle. Nearly stalled once and actually stalled another time. Googled my phone and came back with either MAF or CPS. Popped in to see my mechanic and he was adamant either CPS or Fuel Pump. Going in tomorrow to check it out. No warning lights. Nothing.

CPS = Cheap.

Fuel Pump = $$$

Sitting in my car outside work ready for the drive home...hmmm...will keep you posted.

Cheers,
MALOSINZ

.
I would start with the MAF and/or CPS. My C55 rough idled and sputtered under 1500RPM, it was the MAF. Be warned the MAFs sold on Amazon (prime) were OEM but crap. I paid my indy the $400 for a new one under the 12 month warranty which came in handy twice more . I think the CPS symptoms are more related to the car stalling or not starting; which I think mine is toward the end of its lifecylce now...

Mine was due to the MAF. My car had minor idling issues and even stalled on me once coming into a stop light. Replaced the MAF and it resolved the issues.

How many miles are on your car?

i had the same happen to mine a couple months ago but hasn't happend since. It even stalled on me during a turn which was fantastic for loss of power steering!

Thanks for the replies guys.

It sucks when your car isn't running right - you start questioning every little sound and vibration. "What's that?!" "OMG it's going to die on me again!"

Never a good feeling and especially never a good feeling when riding with a tri-star and AMG on the back. Not a good look.

Seems totally fine today. It is cold here right now (about 8 to 10-degrees Celsius overnight) so that might have something to with it.

Anywho, she's with my mechanic now. Should be a simple fix (I hope). :-)

'12 Mustang 5.0, '89 Supra Turbo, C55,
I've got vibration issues at idle, and after cleaning my MAF, I still have the issue. It's hard trying to determine if it's the MAF, or motor mounts....as suggested elsewhere, with the car in drive and foot on brake and accelerator, the engine does have movement which looks excessive, which would mean mounts.....

Sorry bro, didn't answer your question.

She's got 91kms or roughly 56k miles on her/it.

Had my MAF replaced - seems fine again.

Sounds like you already know the answer bro. Motor mounts it is...probably.

Exclamation

ONE WEIRD THING.

I have a 'CLICKING' sound sometimes when I accelerate.

Nothing on the 'SEARCH' option.

Noticeable when moving from reverse into drive and then accelerating away.

My mechanic hadn't come across it either.
