C55 Spare Wheel

Good day gents.

I need your help.
Does the C55 come with a normal mag wheel or a space saver as the spare wheel?
Will the space saver fit over the front caliper and what size is the space saver?

Thanx a mill

C55's come with a collapsible tire on a steel wheel as the spare. Don't know the size, but it does fit over the calipers for obvious reasons. It takes different wheel bolts too.

^^ is correct.

And, by first hand experience, they'll definitely fit over the front calipers if stock.

That being said, using the spare is trippy as hell, over-engineered as you'd expect (lightness), the guy changing my tires thought the spare was in bad shape... until he deflated it and it returned to its originally collapsed state.

They're as dodgy as they come, but they do work. Had to nurse one for ~150 miles when I got a flat up in Yosemite.

So do you guys rate it to be a safe option as a spare?

When I did a "trial inflate" of mine, the uncollapsing actually started to expand off the side of the rim, not straight. I personally wasn't a fan. I carry both the spare and a can of fix a flat in the trunk. While FaF is not a good idea, in a worst case scenario, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I've had to use the inflato-spare around five times and it's always worked as well as to be expected. Don't much care for the 50-ish mph speed limit but it beats the alternative. Everything I've ever heard about using stop leak is negative, you wind up throwing the tire and wheel away because they can't be cleaned.

Do any of you guys know what is the size of that inflato-spare wheel?
Also, is it the same size as the normal C class spare or is it bigger?

eclectic assortment of cars
I've taken to carrying a small air compressor and a tire repair kit (with plugs and patches) whenever I go on a road trip.

I do miss the fact that my C43 had a full size spare though.
