C55, what does that do for the CLK55?

so now that AMG is releasing the C55, what does that mean for the CLK55? they are the same cars. except one is a four door and the other is a two door. Im sure they are not going to charge 75k for a nicely equipped C55. So who will pay that for a CLK55? especially since you can get an E55 for the same ballpark price. My thoughts are, they will soon put the V8 kompressor in the CLK 55 to justify its high price tag. this was my dilema. I choose my c32 over the CLK55 because it was unjust to pay 15 to 20k more for the coupe. But now with the introduction of the C55, gotta think they have to offer something different in the CLK55.

Porsche Turbo Stage 4, Cayenne S ... gone C43, C32, ML55 & Ducati 999.
"Der C 55 AMG beschleunigt mit seinen 367 PS und 510 NM in 5,2s (vorläufiger Wert) auf 100 km/h." http://www.jesmb.de/indexie.htm

the C55 will run the same 0-60 than a C32... :o but it esasy & cheaper to tune a C32

on the other hand... the SKL55 will be quicker than the current SLK32...the same source claim "Im Okt 04 soll der SLK 55 AMG. Er bietet eine V8-Saugmotor mit 360 PS und 510 NM. Er beschleunigt in 4,9s auf 100 km/h."... 3th more quick than a C55 with is so far 4.6s 0-60

SLK sport pak.

C55 AMG
I think MB and AMG are starting to differentiate the AMG models. As you can see from the C55 and SLK55… the have a different “look”.

So NOW you can get an AMG kit for your new SLK and C... but it will NOT look similar to the “real” AMG models.

The SLK posted above is an SLK with the optional AMG kit.

From what I read the C55 has the same engine as the CLK 55, a 5.5 liter N/A engine.

Tuneability:

C32 is easier and cheaper to tune, because it is already supercharged. Getting to 500HP is fairly easy. In simple terms it involves adding boost and freeing airflow in and out of the engine.
Right now at Stage II we are at 435HP. With more efficient intercooler, higher flowing cats and re-tuning we should be very close to 500HP in Stage III.

Getting 500HP out of C55, normally aspirated, will require major head, intake and cam work. Along with compression ratio going up to around 12.5:1. It will be a rough idling beast with power mostly at high rpms.

Now, adding Kleemann to C55 will push it close to 530HP, than adding headers, more software tuning can get it close to 600HP. One can go even further by punching it to 6.3L, that should be enough to get it up to 650-700HP, even more with more boost, head work and cams.

We are building a beast like this as we speak. We will have results very shortly.

With as much torque as this car is most likely to have, a 7 speed auto would probably be slower, it takes time even for AMG massaged transmissions to shift gears. I'm sure the speedshift manumatic 5 speed will be adequate. Maybe.

With the SLK 350 and 55 AMG offered with the 7G... I think its more likely that the new transmission won't "fit" in the current C (W203).
