Anyone running 10" rears on C55?

I searched and couldn't find anything...

I'm thinking of possibly running a 10" in back but wanted to be sure of fitment so if anyone has them please post a pic and also the specs of your wheel/tire combo, thanks.

I am on stock suspension and if I do lower in the future it will most likely just be springs.

I'm pretty sure that unless you do extensive mods like flaring and grinding out your wheels wells, you're gonna rub like crazy.

Lowered with coilovers, I rubbed a lot running 19x9.5" with 265-30-19. but I'm sure others have had diff experiences. I've heard of a guy running 285's.

This is a good thread to check:

I'm running Carlsson 2/16 8.5 x19 front et 35 235/35/19
10x19 et 30 265/30/19
lowered on H&R coilovers and I only had a slight rub on the liner closest to where the bumper meets the fender on the back.

Any reason for a 10"? What size and brand tire are you trying to run. 10" rim is ideally a 275-295 tire. Anything less and your just adding unnecessary weight running a bigger wheel.

A 275 can fit on 9.5 or even 9" rim.

correct a 10" rim is ideal for a 275, i ran it on a 9.5" but it rounds the tire so your contact patch is wasted. You might be able to fit a 10" with with an ET 50, there is still room between the shock and rim. At this point, our cars aren't worth that much so maybe a flare is the way to go with a 10.5" and a 285 tire and 9" up front with a 255.

Personally, I'm far more disappointed 245 is near impossible up front. You can make various size tires fit the rear of any car with enough time, money, and hammer...

Is it though? Most people run 235s up front, including me, and it looks like there may be enough room for a 245. Maybe if you cut the wheel all the way right the driver side wheel will rub the fender liner at the front of the tire, and vice versa, but you'll only be cutting the wheel like that at speeds below 10mph while parking or other instances like that...

Based on what my car looked like on a lift with 9.5" rear I don't see any reason that extra 1/2" wouldn't fit. The tire size is what matters with rubbing as that will be the part that rubs if you do rub (man I said rub way too many times lol).

I appreciate all the feedback I was just mostly curious if it would fit without modding fenderwells and all that.

Far as I know. I've googled exactly that, image searched, and searched this forum. I haven't found a single C55 with 245/anything fronts. Nothing. Only 1 C43 guy who said he had minor rubbing.

Is there a specific goal beside a 10" wheel? At the end of the day a sticky 265>>>cheap 285. The only C55 I test drove had 19" CL rims I believe. 235F/275R. No problems rubbing on the test drive, but it was mighty tight in the rear.

For best traction you want the best tire you can afford. Changing the width often only alters the contact patch shape. It doesn't make it larger. More unsprung weight = slower acceleration, slower braking, reduced fuel economy, worse handling and in this case much more expensive tires. Of course if it is for aesthetics only then all this goes out the window.

I'm thinking about getting some rims soon. Can anyone give me a good bolt on option with stock springs. I don't want to lower just yet. Diameter/width/offset/tires? im looking to run 9.5 or 10 width in the rear. stretched tires possibly.

I use a square setup for track in 255/40r17 NT01 on 17x8.5 et 30( but I have a lot of front camber with camber bolt and washer mod (around -3.5 front) and use 10mm spacer up front) I touch a little bit the liner. The tire are very close to the strut, around 2mm.

On street, I use tsw nurburgring in 18x8.5/9.5 ET32/40 with 255/35r18 and 285/30r18. I use the same 10mm spacer to the front(without spacer, the tire will touch the strut with washer mod) and for the rear a grind the rear bumper bracket.

I have 26mm and 22mm sway bar and c63 rear spring.

Hey Winks, I have a 05 C55 that is lowered with H&R springs. I would like to upgrade to 19's (8.5 f and 9.5 rear, with 235/35 front and 265/30 rear) and I can't seem to get the correct answer. Ive read some people have rolled their fenders? I def don't wan to do that but I am ok if it rubs from time to time.

Any idea if these will fit and not rub? The offsets on these BBS LM's are 35 on each.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have to order these online and don't want to make a mistake.

thanks.

Thanks PJ. I remember you from the W202 C43 AMG forum. I've since upgraded....kinda wish I kept the C43 as well!

So you have H&R springs as well with the 19's etc?

Yeah got a good deal on some rep BBS LM's. I think the 35 offsets should be ok.

Thanks.

C55 AMG T with Kleemann K2 and some stuff: 414 hp and 562 Nm :-)
The only way to you can do 235 on front is with 19"
Front:
19x8.5 ET29
235/35R19

Rear:
19x8.5 ET29
235/35R19

19x9.5 ET35
265/30R19

I'd leave the rear at et35 because I had to trim the upper bumper tips where they meet the quarter panel and grind sheet metal like the factory repair manual recommends in order for those Superleggeras to fit without rubbing take a look.....the CLK55 has more room hence why they had 255 factory vs 245 C55
