Eurocharged headers on C55?
Does anyone have the EC e55/cls55 headers on their c55? I was told by EC they would fit but just wanted to see if anyone is actually running them. If you are, what did you have to do besides welding to get them bolted up? I am referring to their $750 headers, thanks.

+++ ! Anybody?
These appear to take up the space where the primary cats are located, so you'll either have to axe the cats, relocate them, or go with a high-flow cat.

Yeah that's what I was told by them. The cats would have to be removed or placed farther back. Nothing that a custom shop couldn't handle though...
I'm just worried about main fitment on the engine and how are people running them on their C55 i.e. with no cats, cats pushed back, hi-flow...

its pointless to install headers and keep the factory low flow cats anyway...

I dont think those headers will fit. They will bolt up to the engine but I dont think the primaries will clear the frame of the C55 or SLK55. I say this because dynocomp, and other brands are similar in design and yet they have two separate headers for the SLK55 and the E55.
From what I gather the flange at the engine is the same from 55 NA and the 55 supercharged engine. The difference is the body of the car. The C55 and CLK55 share front clips. The SLK55 and SL55 use the same header and down pipe setup as the C\CLK55 stock. The E55 has the same driver side header but a uses a different passenger side header.
Eurocharged is making a set of headers that will bolt on to the stock cat. The headers above remove that cat which will make the car very loud. My 2nd cats and resonator have been replaced with X pipe. My exhaust isnt crazy loud but at WOT heads do turn. At highway speeds I cant hear the engine while im cruising. I hate trying to talk over a droning exhaust so I plan to keep my main cats and just use a header that replaces the stock POS header.

Right. Never mind.
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...headers-2.html
I emailed Jerry at Eurocharged, waiting for him to email me back. My header fabricator recommended using a two V band flanges but that would require people to cut their stock down pipe. Most people want a simple bolt on type deal.
...
Prototype should be completed by April.

I bought the headers in November but just got around to installing them last week.
They bolt on just fine, there is only about 1/4" of clearance on the driver's side frame rail and I did have to push on the factory heat shield tighter to the frame rail to get that clearance.
It would be difficult to relocate the factory cats due to their large size.
I chose to go with a magnaflow spun cat because it's small in diameter and only 8 inches long. I'm not concerned with emissions I just don't care to have a lit CEL. I have been told the secondary O2's can be coded out with Star developper mode which I have access to, but am not sure when I will get around to trying it. In the meantime Hi flow cats will do the trick.
If I were to do it again I would have cut off the outlet flanges on the headers shortened them up to the primary O2 bungs and then welded the magnaflow cats directly onto the header for maximum clearance and best fit.
Due to time constraints I cut up the supplied outlet pipes and then reworked the cats and flanges to attach to the factory system, and bolt to the EC flanges. I also had to relocate the factory secondary O2 bungs due to fitment
Due to noise concerns I added a magnaflow muffler with dual 2.5" inlets and a single 3" outlet to replace the factory "Y" section. The muffler can is 5" x 8" by 14" long and does sit maybe 1" lower than a factory piece
The car is substantially quieter and all the rasp and harshness has been eliminated from my initial setup of removed factory resonator and secondary cats.
I think that the EC headers are a great option for most, with minimal extra work required to make them fit.
As for huge power gains I can't say my butt feels much difference. I can say when you remove the factory manifold and compare it to the new one, it would be very difficult not to believe these headers make power. The stock outlet is maybe 1.5-1.75", EC is almost 2.75"

Thanks for the help Saaboteur.
The third pic does a crappy job of showing that there is clearance between the frame rail. I didn't take a pic of the passenger side clearance because it was huge (maybe 1")

2005 C55 black on black aka DVS C55, 2007 C230 sport silver on black for the boss
Thanks for adding the pics RyanL, the setup looks great.
Once you get a tune you can realize the true potential of the headers.
If you get time please post a sound clip up on Youtube, that setup is unique with the 3rd muffler so I know many of us are very curious to its sound. I have yet to do exhaust work but was also planning on a 3rd muffler to mellow things out...
What area are you located in the country/world? I'm in Maryland/20852.
Thanks..

I think that sound clips for exhaust online are quite misleading. I've been making my own exhausts for 20 yrs and have found its hard for a little speaker to get it right.
What I can say is that that the car is sounds pretty much exactly like a stock car with just the resonator deleted. I did that first and thought the car was too quiet so i eliminated the secondary cats and found that a little loud.
Under 3000 rpm highway cruise the exhaust is barely noticeable. Above 4k rpm there's some bark but its definitely less loud and less harsh than resonator and secondary cat delete.
I have K&N's and a reflashed ecu and tcu
The car is fun, but by no means is a rocket.
I'm in Vancouver, BC Canada

Just an update.
200km of driving and my CEL came on for catalyst efficiency bank 1 and 2.
Had to code out the secondary O2 's with Star.
All seems ok now.
Have had luck with Vibrant O2 spacers on other cars using the same cats but didn't have time to try them this time

Coding was not that difficult. I did a search on here and found some how to's but they weren't exactly right for a Star C4. Speed limit. tire size etc. are all accessed under drive / engine management 2.8 / development data/ variant coding/ germanword kodierung something.
After waiting for it to communicate. It will list all of your current settings for the car in little windows and then when you drag the mouse over offer you options that you can choose by clicking on it and then F3 to reprogram your options. I turned off my air pump too, for both o2 sensors and air pump. Bins 178 and 182 you should see "German words + "ein" highlighted for your original setting. And for these bins your only other option is "German words + "aus"
Selecting aus disabled them for me which i was also able to verify elsewhere in the scantool monitoring actual data.
For some reason i had communication difficulties which only allowed me to complete this engine running
