broken fog lens
Hello, I was told by my dealer that it would cost $450 to replace the driver side front fog lamp assembly on my 2003 C32 and they would have to remove the bumper to do so. The fog lens is broken.
1. Can anyone confirm if it is required to remove the bumper to replace the fog lamp assembly?
2. Are there any grills available to cover the fog lamp to help protect the lens?
Thank you.
Steve

i would take this opportunity to go with the clear foglamps that come in the CLK55, it will match your headlights better - that is if you have the bi-xenon option.
no, you don't have to remove teh bumper cover, when i replaced mine, i had to put the car on the lift and went from under the bumper to replace the foglamp assemblies.

Yes,
I second the clk55 foglights. I had it done to mine and it looks really nice. Much cleaner. It really doesn't stick out that much at all.
BTW: AMGBred thanks for the info on the xenon's for the fogs. I am going to call them and find out. The only thing is it seems like these lights are for headlamps only since they are very bright. Do you know if 5000k matches the stock bi-zenon's?

I got it done at the dealer. They had to replace my front bumper due to damage.
When it was all done it was about $600 including installation. It may have been a little less. I belive it was about 500 for the parts and 100 labor.

Thank you for the information. The CLK55 foglights do look sharp. This is my first Mercedes and frankly I am still in a little sticker shock on the replacement cost of the part. I have also had a lot of problems (mostly electrical defects) in the 8 months I have owned the car so I am in a sort of "I just want it to work" mood right now. Anyway, I will probably just buy the replacement part and put it in myself.
Don't mean to get off thread here but since this is my first post and you all have been so nice I will share how I bought the C32...
I was sitting at a stop sign in Tysons Corner VA in my 300zx twin turbo and noticed that the young man behind me was a little impatient. So when traffic broke, I took off thinking he would dissapear in my mirror. I was very surprised to be reading his rear C32 AMG badge before the next light. I had heard of the AMG but was not familiar with the "smaller" sedans. So after a little research on the web (I was relieved it was not my driving) and a trip to the MB dealer, I was driving the MB and put the Z in the garage for warmer weather. BTW, it was a silver C32 with MD tags.
Cheers,
Steve
