WTB: 2005 C55 with 47,000 Miles

I found a C55 with all of the features that I want. That includes the right interior and exterior color and I really want to pull the trigger and buy this one. Only thing is the seller wants $19,500 for it. I have been in contact with him the past 2 days and he doesn't seem to want to budge on the price. Is that a fair price for a 2005 C55 with 47,000 miles, Bi-X, COMAND, and really clean.

To me it seems a little high but it comes down to how much you want it. A car is very rarely an investment. I just purchased a 06 with 92k for 13k so it is not a bad price depending on the condition of the car. Low miles doesn't always mean taken care of.

Price is too high. Most of these go for around $12K to $14K with higher mileage. But even at $0.10 a mile, this car is not worth $5K more.

Ultimately, how much would you pay to have one mile less on the car? $0.10 a mile? $0.07?

If this helps I bought my 2006 C55 last July with 37K miles and paid $19,400. My personal opinion, I would maybe do $17k or $17.5K at the most for that car. And that's if they have records for everything.

That's what I was thinking myself at the absolute most if I don't have to ship the car from NC to MI but I still haven't received any info on whether he has maintenance records or if he's the original owner. He said he was an enthusiast but I searched the classifieds and did not find the car there.

Depends what you want to pay for it. Offer what you feel is worth it to you.

I am hopefully getting close to buying a 2005 C55. The car has low miles (under 50K) and I am wondering what kind of things should I exactly be asking for that are more important than the usual regular maintenance and interior/exterior appearance? I won't be able to make it to see the car since it is out of state but I would hopefully have the seller take it in for a PPI for me.

Any suggestions?

My suggestion to you would be to do everything in your power to go see the car for yourself with your own two eyes!!

Before you hand that check over you need to take a flight to go see it in person.

1. The seller is a dreamer. 2. Go see it for yourself 3. A car is worth ONLY what you're willing to pay ( or anyone is willing to pay). 4. The seller thinks he's got a big fish on the hook,( KNOWS you really want the car). Excellent book on that car is closer to $ 16K , so seller is at least 3K high.

I am thinking the same thing. I really do like the car, mainly because it is almost exactly the same as my C230 but with a 5.4 V8, but thats not enough for me to pay more than what the car is worth. I ran a carfax on it and it has had 3 owners. The first owner had it regularly serviced up to 28,000 miles where he sold it, the second owner did not service it at all, and the third owner who has it now has only had it since February so I am weary of why they would want to get rid of it so quickly. I'll see how it goes. Thanks for the input everyone.

i paid 21,500 for mine (previous owners balance to bank) a year and a half ago with 38,000 miles. I got it because it was white on black (very hard to find) with all options including the wood interior. I could have gotten one cheaper but i wanted this one. not to mention it was just services and had brand new tires and was FLAWLESS. Worth it to me since I dont plan on ever selling the car.

Comes down to how much you want it.

You sold C63 but kept C55, why? C55 better car for you?

Buy what you like and pay what you think is fair. My C55 has less than 20k miles and would be more than the prices listed here - and therefore would never sell. I just over paid for an '06 E350 @ $18.7 - but it has 800 miles on it.

For what it's worth - the tax rule on mileage is $0.575 per mile.

You're saying that your C55 with about 20 k miles could fetch more than $20 K asking?? Even excellent book on that car is $16 with the mileage add. But, I guess there's a buyer for everything.

The mileage they referred to above was not the IRS mileage but what lessees typically pay upfront for extra miles in lease versus 25 cents per mile on lease return. It's std in industry.

Just remember, not everything is reported to Carfax. Not all shops report to Carfax and if the owner did things himself it wouldn't be reported. A vehicle could have been in an accident but if a police report wasn't filed, Carfax doesn't know. Carfax is always a great first starting point but it always pays to have the car inspected (or do it yourself if you know what to look for).

No. What I meant is that my car with less than 20k miles, I wouldn't sell at any of the prices above, and therefore wouldn't sell because the market isn't there. However, the cars are apparently selling above $20, so I guess never say never.

KBB is nothing more than an indicator and a great marketing engine. It's about as reliable as a CarFax. That's why you buy what you like and can afford and enjoy the car.

My car is completely 100% OEM, but KBB can't value it, so it's a moot point.

If you're not selling, then the point is indeed moot. I was at my independent mod/repair shop in Chicagoland last week and was told there's a strong market for the 05/06 C55, particularly rare color ones ( white or Red ) and they get calls asking if anyone's selling. This shows me there is interest indeed.

I haven't seen your car on the road here, but it's a big city too. Only other C55 I've seen was in NW burbs was about a year ago and it was a silver one, pretty beat too. My car is debadged, so few if any know what it is. I am sure they're just thinking C Class until they hear the Kleemann Autorotor and shorty headers Otherwise, it looks totally stock. There's a few C32s still running around, but most of them I've seen are also rats.

There was an Orion Blue C55 for sale a month or so ago. If it would have had a black interior, I might have bought it even though I don't need it! I've only ever seen one other Orion Blue C55 for sale and it also had the white interior so maybe that was the only option. Rare car either way though.

Yes, I saw that one go up for sale and blue is rare, but not overly desirable. The Red ( Barolo and Mars) and White are probably the rarest.

Yeah. I don't know why blue is not a popular color though, I love blue cars (as long as it's a good blue, like the Orion Blue). I've only ever seen pictures of one Barolo Red C55 and never seen one for sale. I've seen a good number of white and Mars Red for sale though.

It's in storage Nov - Apr every year. Driven maybe 1,000 miles a year since 2008 or so. Never in the rain or snow. I'm debadged as well, plus a solid 5 spoke AMG wheel that I needed to clear the bigger brakes. The wheels, brakes and park assist rear bumper is a dead give away that it's my car from the outside.

Where have you seen a Barolo or even Mars Red C55 for sale. The last Mars Red in here (06 C55 Kleemann SC with short tubes and 17K miles) sold 6 years ago and was a fellow forum member who also had an RS4. I know of two Barolo Reds, neither of which is for sale as well. There's a ton of silver and black for sale if you look, but no white ( currently) and certainly no Red(s).

There are three Mars Red cars on Autotrader and one white car (there was another one on there a few days ago) on Autotrader right now.

I've never seen a Barolo Red car for sale. I've only seen the one guy in CA, I believe, on AMG Private Lounge who had one.

My neighbor has a Barolo one. There's two Red, both high mileage, one silver and one blue. But it changes almost daily.
