Buying a 2006 C55
Hey guys,
I am in the process of picking a mint 2006 C55 and I couldn't be more excited.
I came from a 2009 Bmw 135 which I loved but the turbo's warranty was almost up and the stealership wouldn't replace them. I actually drove it into a Toyota dealership and drove away with a bare bones Camry for my wife. My DD is a 2013 Avalon which I hate driving but is perfect for my job.
So here is the story with my C55-
I sell new homes in South Florida and one of my Canadian customers starting talking about some of the cars that he owns and started cycling through pictures of his Lambo, SLS, 430, and the C55. Out of all the cars he stopped at the C55 and told me how much he liked the car and it surprises him every time he drives it. He just added the SLS to his garage and doesn't have the room for this, so I said I will take it. $15K CAD which is $11,300 USD and it only has 100,000 km which is 62,000 miles.
Car is mint, never been through a automatic car wash and the interior is pristine. Regular service but has never had an issue with anything.
We found a guy in Canada who is going to truck it here for $1200 CAD so $900 USD, all the other quotes were $2250. I trust this guy so I am not worried about anything, we have been doing steady business for the past year now. He said he would drive it down but I don't want the miles on it since it's going to be a garage car. I have never driven the car and am buying it based on the pictures attached. He has the OG wheels too, I am not a huge fan of chrome.
My only concern is getting a Florida title. I am hoping it is easy... I have owned a lot of cars but never dealt with something like this. Car should be in the mail next week and I can't wait. I just hope I am doing everything right so I don't have any issues getting a plate for it when it arrives. I ran the VIN and it is a US car but has KM on the speedo. I believe from reading the owners manual it is a few buttons to change the digital reads to US.
Thanks guys!
Turns out that the quote to have it shipped was wrong. I am now flying there on Tuesday and driving 1600 miles south!
I will take some cool pictures on the way down. Should be fun.

Surely you need a quick test drive?
You need to check for common faults:
-Clicking dash
-Leaking valve covers
-Heated seats not working
and anything else ive missed lol.
Car looks nice in the pictures, except those awful, awful wheels.

I know. The wheels are so bad. They should sell easily where I live though. The guy I'm buying it from is really proud so me must have paid a lot...
I am flying up there Tuesday so I will be able to drive it before I make the trip down.
I have been researching it all day and it doesn't seem that bad to get it down here.
I am thinking the price is pretty good on the car. The only thing I would want to change the gauge cluster to MPH.

[I]Its a simple process
When you come down just bring your ins. do your bill of sale go to our ministry of transportation you'll then transfer the car with the buyers package they will give you temporary Canadian plates YOU DO NOT PAY CANADIAN TAXES
Install temp plates and drive to the boarder and ( Pay Taxes On Sale Price Of The Car That Is USA Customs)
Hit that gas pedal and don't look back

I lost a little sleep last night wondering if I should even do it or pay for shipping. They went upwards of $2600 to deal with customs. Screw that.
Cannon ball run home!
