Looking for a cool car seat option for my baby
So I wanted to do this for my last car but it was only a 2 door and said forget it,
I was thinking about a slim forward facing car seat for my 2 year old so I don't have to take my wife's car every time we go out. I'm hoping my baby will enjoy the new C55 as much as I do, instead of taking our Camry or Avalon (both leases).
It sounds stupid but my ultimate goal is to find a slim line car seat and have my tailor take off the fabric and do matching leather. An AMG logo may get done too.
For those without kids it sounds stupid but I have one and since I want to have her enjoy the ride as much as I do (and want a sweet car seat that matches) was wondering if anyone with kids has a tight fitting seat.
If anyone has a picture of their current baby set up it would be appreciated.
All the forward facing seats look huge. The setup in my wife's camry looks way to huge.

none... for now
That is a monstrous seat in width, height, and thickness.
There are plenty of smaller front facing though. I don't remember the minimum weight rating, but I had a converting one that was smaller then that: standard front facing and broke down to just a booster seat later. Don't forget, while some of it is unquestionably for flash/looks/sales, most of the seat's fluff/bulk is cushions for the kid. A $300 seat is utterly ridiculous when you're clearly paying for name, but you don't want to cheap out on something important either.
As for reskinning, it'll look cool but don't. It's for the child's comfort 1st and formost, and the cloth is much better in dealing with temp changes. I myself prefer even a half decent leather over cloth anyday(in fact, I actually prefer half decent, tough, textured leather to the slightly upscale leather in the C55), but the child doesn't get to choose. Plus, leather may not stain(see: shouldn't) but kids manage to spill/stain impossible things. With the neoprene or whatever cover your baby seat will have you rip it off, throw it in the wash, and it's done IMO.

IKS. With head surround support and belt router.
I have this for my 5year old - and that is where I chose to "invest in the car" (And you can have a upholstery shop pull your OEM ///AMG seat apart to skin over these to match...I have NEVER seen them finished in ///AMG...always Classic,Elegance or Avant Garde) as I will easily be able to use it until she (and a friend, then her sister who is now 2) is 12 or so. MB says 2 years (with table B6 687 0098)/27.5lbs to 12 years/79lbs...plus now, fold in for adults - pop up for kids...always ready!
I too would not modify an essential safety device for my most loved...let the stand alone LATCH installed seats do their jobs while the kids are little. Buy based on safety alone. My wife and I have always used the appropriate Britax units with under seat padding to protect the upholstery. I second the spill/stain anything....and their waste or vomit can be the worst in a car - ensure you have a good seat cover/plan - as it will happen...and you will have Cheerio dust. You will.
