Thumbs up 0-60 in 4.48sec

I decided to make some runs with my new Toyo T1S tires since they are hooking up much better than my old Pilot Sports. I recorded a 4.48sec run with no tire spin, no brake torqing, just take the foot off the brake and feed in throttle. I'm sure faster times could be had by car magazine drivers on their special surfaces

All times done with same G-Tech (accuracy 1/10th sec)

Here is a timeline of how this car has progressed:

Stock 5.08 - 5.2 sec (mostly 5.2 range)
w/ODPS 4.83 - 4.9 sec
w/ODPS/ECU/Filters 4.66 - 4.78 sec
w/all above + Toyo's 4.48 - 4.6

All of the above ranges very from perfect launches to melt the tires wheel spin.

Hey Zeppelin:

Killer times! Do you think that the added traction is attributable to the Toyo design, or do you think that it was just a result of having new tires? In other words, did your Pilots get as much traction when they were new as the Toyos do now? My rear Rossos are getting pretty low, and I am debating between the Pilot Sport 2, and the Toyo T-1

Also, what size tires are you running, and what launch technique are you using?

Vomit,

The Toyo's are stickier than the Pilot Sports I had on before, but probably not the 2/10ths quicker. It will be difficult to say for sure since the car was stock for the first 5000 miles of of the Pilot Sport's life. The toyo's are $60 cheaper apiece and are quieter as well.

Tire sizes are 245 front and 255 rear, both on stock rear rims.

Forgot to mention I now have a spare in the trunk, not sure if that gives me better traction.

T1s's great tire, but they do get noisy with wear. Im also finding that with the increased temps lately, im getting much less wheel spin, and great launches off the line.

Good times, I own a Gtech as well, I hear you get a more accurate reading on your 0-60 speed if you reach about 80? how fast were you going?

I have gotten a 4.81 and a 4.79 when my car was stock.

Not sure what you mean by going to 80mph. I probably only run it to 65mph or so then slow down to a stop fairly quickly.

Your stock times are amazing. You must have one of those stock C32's that will run the 1/4 in 12.9

I was just thinking my gtech isn't accurate? I haven't tracked her yet besides my gtech... I really haven't gotten a chance to get a 1/4 mile time because I would want to hit about 130 before I started to slow down and from a dead stop that's not easy in the busy Florida roads I live on.

Can you give a ballpark number on the cost involved with each of your steps? I've heard a lot of 5.2 average times and getting under 5.0sec would cost how much?

Thanks for the stats!

Pulleys = $1399
ECU = $325
Filters = $80
SL55 Y kit = $109

Total = $1913

Other than an increase in the cost of the pulleys you can duplicate these mods for about $2100

Wow! Thanks Zeppelin!

Why are other guys spending 1000's more for more horsepower that gets them maybe the same times? $1900 seems to be a steal vs. paying Rentech $10K is it?

I think if you take your car to a drag strip, those numbers cannot be achieved.

I have run the car at the strip with the G-Tech running and it is within a 1/10th of a second in the 1/4. The MPH is off but that is just the way the two calculate it differently.

SL55 Y kit is available from evosport or you can build your own. I never ran the car at the 1/4 other than when stock. Then it ran 13.45@106 at Carlsbad.

It's kind of hard to believe the G tech is incredibly accurate being that it gets it's power from the cig. lighter.... either I am running some damn good stock times or it's just a tad off.
