Test Drove 04 E55
I took it and drove it semi hard through the back roads of Newport Beach.
Dark Tecktite Black, It's on the lot at 89,000 today.
I have a hookup (and dropped quote) if someine in OC wants to drive it.
My salesperson, great guy, Pat Murphy, no relation, was wondering why I was not very impressed, Then I took him on the same drive in my C32, and he understood, I was very close the the E55 0-60 time, off my Seiko, not official.
I believe the C32 is the best car in the fleet for my lifestyle.
Being a CEO some people wonder why I don't step up and drive a S or E
We'll it's because I love my C32
And I am keeping it, and i will be tuning it more with all that money I saved.
I did not try that in the E55, but a did step on the gas, semi hot day and not broken in, but still, for 90 K..sheeessshhhh..
With a 3000 dollar or so Evo Sport upgrade..
No stock E55 will be safe..
I did a 360 in the C32 from a slow roll, Smoke everywhere, Pat was like whooolllyy shiiiiiittttttt, Then I got some traction and took off.

From Car & Driver for the E55:
Propelled by the same supercharged 5.4-liter SOHC 24-valve V-8 employed in the SL55 AMG, albeit with a little less horsepower, it’s even faster than the SL55 we tested last November, clocking 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds, 0 to 100 in 9.9, 0 to 150 in 24.5, and the quarter in 12.5 seconds at 116 mph. That’s quicker than anything else in this roundup—quicker, in fact, than any production sedan we’ve ever tested. Sports-car quick. The last Corvette Z06 we tested (December 2001) hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, 100 in 9.2, and 150 in 24.1, and it covered the quarter in 12.4 seconds at 116 mph.
From Road & Track for the C32:
It's a fiercely strong motor, with ripping tip-in torque, a fat midrange and unceasing pull to a somewhat thrashy 6000-rpm redline. It's second-quick in our trio, edged out by a mere tenth in 0-60 and quarter-mile acceleration contests by the BMW, at 5.1 and 13.6 seconds, respectively. That's Porsche 911 territory.
Granted they have the incorrect Redline.
ofcourse c32 modded is a quick car but if i was in a e55 i wouldn't be scared of c32 with pulley, we also just went and looked at the s55/e55 but the e55 was about to be delivered to the guys house so we didn't get a chance to test drive it.

Road and track can kiss my ***.
I bet the E55 would kill a tuned C32 in 4th and on, but who really goes 170.
My real point is a 90K car better outdo a 55k car by alot, not a little.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Personally it's not the car for me, If I wanted fast I would be in a 996tt, Or the Hartmann RS6 at work is insane and costs the same as the E55.
All I know is I am a little let down about all the hype the E55 had.
I bought into the tiger commercial..lol. I have raced one too..It was pretty close, Off the 73 and onto Macarthur in NewPort, at the light the E55 guy was jocking cause he could not lose me.
Bottom line, If I was 10years older I would be in the E55, I still like playing with the M3's Keeps me young at 35..
No offence to E55 Owners. I am a huge fan of AMG anything..
PS and to Doc, if you can scrape up enuff gas money you can come down to Fletcher and touch Kobe's S600 in the showroom.

E55 is dead fast.

BTW, I am the CEO & COO & Chairman & Secretary of my lemonade stand. I work from the comfort of my lawn. I undercut the punk across the street by a penny!

What'ss funny is a guy with a 4 runner hanging in the C32 forum
Vader...on a more serious note, maybe you should testdrive an E55 that has been broken-in already...say 5-10K miles on the odometer. Then, you can truly tell the difference.
I think it's a funckin sick car, just not for me, yet..

I'll be in the city of industry on Saturday for a show. What you doing sat. night?
Yup for that kind of cash you can get in a 996tt used..
If you have a family the E55 is the way to go though..
So, Vader you keep talking about a tuned C32. What have you done to your car? All I see in you signature is some big, heavy *** wheels, a heavy stereo system, and some trim pieces.
I will be doing the Brabus UPK and software.
Not as big as gains as the Evosport Kit, but I am very comfortable with their products service and warranties.
They will be adding the SL55 intake as well.
I will be on the road producing for the next few months, so it won't be untill summer. That's when my E was supposed to be deliverd.
I also just bought a C230K Sedan Sport, fun little commuter.
The only mods are clear sidemarkers, PIAA lights, and dark tint all around.
I am not some big baller poser, or some track maniac.
I don't know why I am trying to defend myself now, I said a sarcastic remark about the E55 safe thing, so what.
I like to pay cash for my cars, Giving up my C32 and 55K is something I am not going to do for the E55.
I am looking at a 02 996tt now..turn the C32 into my tuned commuter, ditch the C230K..
edit, The thing with Benz is, if you get in the E55 club, you gotta get in the S55, club, then the Sl55 club and on and on..It does not stop. A C240 is a baller car to some, a E55 is not a big baller car, A SL55 or S600 is a big baller car.
Baller is a played out term, like ricer..
