What is it with the 370Z/G37 guys?

It seems like the 370Z and G37 coupe drivers have some bur up their backsides and feel the need to demonstrate their dominance over my little C55. Many have tried. All have failed. I'm not sure if they think I'm in another one of the bazillion C230s out there or what.
I find it odd that the drivers of those cars more than any other are the ones who want to run.
Amusingly, one G37 coupe driver tried me on an empty stretch of highway. I was running 80 when he pulled up beside me and hit it. By the time the speedo hit 100 I had pulled in front. With a well established lead, I backed out of it by 120. Then came the ricer fly-by. Well, an attempt anyway. I didn't let him get away with that either. I saw 140 go by as he was shrinking in my mirror.

These little C55s are lotsa fun but they're far from competitive on the streets these days.Yeah, it'll pull on the Dodge 5.7 and 6.1 cars, previous generation Mustangs, older Camaros, and such but there's an entire generation of cars that would stomp these things into the ground.

Now if I could only get the neighbor kid to stop revving his fart piped Honda when he sees my car it would be nice.

I made a post like this some time ago and I still agree. I think it's because they either know the car is a real amg and truly believe they can take it because they technically can get the same numbers through mods (although a loud exhaust won't help much) or they just see amg and think it's fake and try to shame you for driving a badged granny 203.

I personally dig the 350z and g35/7 but I wouldn't own one because they are more expensive than a 32 (they're priced right in between a 32 and 55). They are also beat to the ground with people not taking care of them because they're "reliable" Japanese cars, so they just drive them with little attention to the major components. They always have high miles and many owners (this can also be said for an amg but it's not as extreme). Let's not forget the fact that there are literally thousands of them on the streets. So in reality, most people prefer those cars which means it ends up in the hands of all types of drivers. So you'll have people who know your car and don't care and drive normally, but most of the time it's the ricers with body kits, big wings, often times an unnecessarily loud exhaust, vinyls on the windows, and probably sprayed on tire logos. They truly believe their car is fast (and it is in its own right). They don't understand that 0-60 isn't that big of a deal anymore. Those 350/70's and g35/37's cap out once they hit 60 while our cars keep pulling till we reach 100. They're more satisfied with the fact that they beat you off the line for a split second. This is my opinion and I have to deal with this on the regular since my commute is through two counties on highway and street. I know how you feel man haha

People still regard those as sports cars? Are we back in the early 2000's?

My brother in law owns a 370Z.

He thinks hes faster than anything out there. Claims he smoked a e39 M5 and a srt8 jeep.

Tried me once, I jumped him immediately but he claims he missed a shift.

In high school I had a 1974 Plymouth RoadRunner. It had a mild little 360 but that's all it needed to shred new cars in the late 80s.
After blowing away countless IROC-Z, Z28, 5.0 Mustang, and various other cars I was feeling pretty ballsy. One afternoon found me cruising down the left lane of I-35 in Dallas when I spotted a purple 1970 RoadRunner in my rear view mirror. Slowing down a bit allowed the guy to catch me. It was an older fellow in a really nice looking car. I gave him a beep beep of the "Voice of the RoadRunner" horn and a thumbs up. He replied in kind. Then, being the young punk that I was, I smacked the Slap Stick shifter down a gear and stood on it to blow that old man into the weeds. A few short seconds later I could hear the howl of a wide open carburetor and that old man went right on by. Pulling a bass boat.

I enjoyed my 350z, and it was quick, but the early ones were not as fast as most kids think they are. I went 13.3 @ 103 on motor, which is nothing special at all. It did surprise many people street racing, but that was more of me driving the car well than anything else. On nitrous it ran about as well as a stock C6 vette.

Nowadays, they are sub-$10k cars, so they are all kids driving them and they all drive like retards. The new version of an old crappy civic SI.

C55 AMG T with Kleemann K2 and some stuff: 414 hp and 576Nm :-)
I remember when I raced a -08 Porche Carrera 4S cab (385 hp) a few years ago on a highway, mine had only a ECU-tune a that time.

We started at 140 km/h (88 mph) and pushed them to approx 260 km/h (162 mph). At about 200 km/h (125 mph) his small pancake-engine (3,8 L)
couldnīt keep up any longer when my torqy 5,4 liter left him in my mirrors.
We did that several times.
Nice!

Several years ago I ran a 997 C4s cab with my SRT6 coupe. You could have tied a string between the cars. Neither of us could gain on the other. We called it off around 110 mph.

Same here, just the other day. I left him (G37 coupe) on the freeway roll, then he does a fly by on the off ramp. Central CA is fullllll of them. I am really glad I never bought one. Adult owned low mile version would be tempting though at the right price.
