Clk32..

If MB had produced the a CLK32, with the same specs as the CLK55, but with the engine of the current C32, and costing about 10k more then the C32.. would you have gotten it instead of the C32?

I picked the C32, because it was a small four door.

The E55 is too big.

The CLK55 only has two doors and the stupid motorized seat, for rear seat entry (long wait).

If it had not been for the rear seat access issue, I would have gotten the CLK55, the V8 sounds so much nicer.

I would pay the same amount of premium C32 - C320 = CLK32 - CLK320

Yeah, CLK is priced more than the C, but if the CLK32 gets the same amount of AMG-tization as a C32 would, then their premium over base should be the same...

i hear what you are saying.. so technically speaking, a CLK32 would cost ~58k ? which is about 10k more then the C32 :p

so what would the price diff between clk500 and a theoretical clk32 then? if the clk32 prices too close to it then it may be a problem....

on the other hand, with a C55 available.. hmm... then a C500 is possible, wouldn't it?

so say you jump up the price of the CLK32 to 60k, 6k more then the CLK500.. then it would fall in the right segment.. those who want to opt for a V6 with the touches of a AMG can opt for that car while those who don't want an AMG, want the luxurious, silky smooth V8 can opt for the CLK500

so the C55 proves that the V8 can be fitted under the hood.. With the IS430 and the 335i around the corner, it would make sense to develop a C500 with the C55 facelift, MSRP: 40k and it will fall right into the segment and steal quite a few hearts

I had the same thought when the 3.2 kompressor engine came along in the C class...I just didn't hear anyone else voice their thoughts on this.

A s/c v6 CLK (w208) would probably have been lighter than the 5.5 v8 version turned out and probably would have pretty good performance. Especially with the 3.07 differential gearing the v6 has.

As it was, there was nearly 300# differance of the 3.2 vs the 5.5 model in the w208's.

The w209's got heavier with the larger body plus the extra reinforcements that going pillarless required to keep the body stiff enough.

I took the resignators off my 32 yesterday to add a little more sound to the car. It really sounds good IMO and gives it a little more sound w/o being annoying.
