confused about Evosports times at SW
However, according to the team that won the event, the Evosport C32 only managed a 1:38 and change.
Raceway on the 'Streets of Willow' road course. The morning was devoted to
testing and tuning if necessary. In our case, we used several minutes to
make quick adjustments to the Stasis Motorsports Ohlin suspension. On the
dragstrip we had softened the front setting on the shock bodies and the high
speed rebound in the remote reservoirs to make the car stiffer in the rear.
Before lapping at Willow, we simply stiffened the fronts and rears to get
back to our 'road course' setup. Each car was given a four lap trial, with
the first lap as a warm up, the second and third laps timed, and the last
lap used as a cool down run. The road course offered up a chance to pit
drivers skill and tuning skill head to head.......several teams
TJM,evosport,Achtuning,Stasis and ours used professional drivers in their
car. Ultimately the afternnon boiled down to a battle between Paul Lambert
of Stasis Engineering who did double duty driving their own A4 touring car
and our S4 fully equipped with Stasis' full lineup of high performance
suspension and brake products versus Gary Sheehan (Grand Am/USTCC racer) in
Achtuning's quick RS4.
The professionally prepared Stasis A4 Touring Car with 200ish whp and weight
below 2500 lbs prevailed with Paul Lambert's excellent racing skill and a
time of 1:29xx, the RS4 from Achtuning/AMS finished second with a 1:30xx.
Our S4 finished a close third with a time of 1:31xx. ABD Racing's excellent
supercharged R32 finished in fourth with a time of 1:33xx. Evosport made a
heroic effort to win, but the C32 AMG could not put all it's power down in
the tight road course, and finished with a 1:38xx. TJM's fast A4 was
withdrawn after practicing due to technical problems. Eurosport Accessories
race prepared super light Rabbit driven by their excellent driver
threatened, but could not overcome the high hosepower cars from Audi.

So I hope that time is wrong.
After lunch, each car made 4 laps with the lowest of the middle two laps used for placing. By that time it was 105F with track at 147F and wind coming off the hills pushing sand onto the track. The best Brad was able to do was 1.35.xxx. Everyone else times went up as well.
Rear tires have started to go away, as the car smoked passenger side rear tire half around the track. I almost had a heart attack thinking the motor was letting go.
With fresh tires, more camber and practice I think 1.32.xxx are very possible.
For an extremely heavy car, nice showing what an MB can do!

less weight and a properly set up car can win with very little horsepower. I am reminded of that fact constantly everytime an e30 m3 blows by me.
My guess is that the streets of willow is a tight track. In that case the reason smg was able to come so close to the time of Evo's is because with weight being the limiting factor all that matters to a certain extent is brakes and cornering.
It seems that evosport with the h&r and sway setup is pretty close to the cornering capabilities of the RS. It is probably the massive difference in horsepower that is the difference in the times. This is of course assuming driver skill is roughly same and I think both smg and brad are very good drivers.
Evosport,
you guys need to bring that car down to watkins glen.
I was there the past weekend for a bmw club race and watched the gt cars and boy is that a horsepower track. With some more camber to tackle some of those downhill turns. Our car can own.
count me in as somebody that would be interested in your camber plates.
