Whirling noise at stop sign...

Whirling noise at stop sign...
Anyone else get a whirling noise when they come to a stop? It happens maybe once a week, doesnt sound horrible, but its annoying.

Sounds like the supercharger whine, but the cars not moving :|
When i hit the gas, the sound goes away after a bit. Mind you, i have hardly any supercharge whine when the car is accerlerating. So this makes things a bit more odd.

Anyone else?

i have the same. dealer says it is the altenator pulley, but is normal. been like that for 1 year now. other than "whirling" sounds on occassion, everything seems normal.

That's the auxiliary air pump. Comes on when car slows and not enough air comes in through the normal air intakes. Also adds air to the exhaust to burn in the cat.

yeah I get that too, it sounds like a clicking noise? every once in awhile.

Was there a factory bulletin issued for that problem? My C320 wagon does the same thing.

no clicking on mine, just the whiring sound at idle and initial acceleration. if you are talking about the lifters chattering, thats normal

The clicking noise on mine isnt lifters for sure. It sounds like a clicking pump of some sort and is not heard all the time.

It sounds like it might be an air pump or something of that sort.
