No, as far as i know this was not an update. It was just a faulty ECU.

Awwww **** guys! Bad news. After a couple months after making this thread and having the problem taken care of for a while already. Today i started my car and the seconed it tried to fire up i heard that VERY LOUD bang and the car almost hesitated to start but finally came to life. Guess this means i gotta bring it in ASAP on Monday! I am so pissed, i hope it does not have to stay to long, and i hope they can actually find a problem thats causing this. I dont understand how its been fine for so long and now it happened again. I dont want it to screw up my install time for my coilovers and wheels i am expecting!

Wow I only get about 215 miles at most out of my car, and thats highway. The trip boston-nyc used the entire gas tank (212miles) and only 8.5mpg on the city, i do drive hard tho, but im sure everyone here does too.

That is a terrible thing happened (again ) to new costly MB car owner
If what you heard "bang" which was the same kind of sound happened
before , this means your dealer never had found the root cause of the problem. They might have fixed something interim last time.
You have to make a big complain to the dealer and make sure
they explain what it is and seem they have to replace some big
parts of the engine or its ignition components.
( I am an idiot of car mechanics, I only know how to complain )

The city drive is terrible , especially traffic jam, I saw the LCD meter
showing somewhat like 20litre/100km.
The fuel tank is 62 litre , so 320km ~= 200 miles is about right.

If I started to ease on gas unless there were "fast cars" that I am tempted to show off a little. I worked it out once to be ~7km/litre , so 62 litre tank would mean I can do 430km per tank !

Not many people her with a C55 that have to pay USD1.6 per litre like I do here in HK. So , don't complain, make good fun with your cheap fuel.

I'm looking to pick up a C55 (when I can get dig-climate). In fact, I'm going to test drive one today for the first time. Strange about the mileage. Although my E39-M5 had a slightly smaller engine (5-liter), it consistently got about 18-mpg-combined close to 21-hway, and the worst was about 14-city one day. Also not too much change from new to broken in. I'm surprised the C55 is really that bad on mileage.

Norm

Actually it is not bad on highway if I drive the C55 the 'way' like I drive my W210 E320. I measured my daily journey from home to office. If I ease on gas on the C55 , it is on average 15-20% more fuel than the W210 E320.
The C55 eats fuel in traffic jam when too many starts/stops.

C55 owners weill agree there is a perception the C55 eats more fuel simply because the same normal C class tank 62 litre is a bit too small for a 5.5 litre engine car

Well I drove the C55 today. Nice! Completely different from my previous cars but what I'm looking for. It sounds like a real pig on gas. I won't be surpised if it is worse than my M5 but will be a little disappointed. I think I'll have to order one because the one they have is not optioned the way I want it.

Fast Cars!
Ok guys, here is an update.

I broght the car to the dealer on Monday, told them the whole story and they even told the techs to check the history so they can see more about the noise from last time and what they did. I just got the car back today and my service advisor said they found nothing. They were not able to duplicate to sound and they found no fault codes. They said they even had there top tech (i forgot what they called him) inspect the whole car and found nothing. The most they said i can try is, after i hear the noise, if again, dont shut the car and just drive stright to the dealer and they can then check for fault codes. I doubt they would find anything, i mean i am not getting any lights on the dash come on. But i guess it can be worth a try. After i got the car back, i had some things to do, and i could have sworn i heard the noise when i started it again but i was on the phone and not really paying attention! This really sucks they they found nothing but something must be wrong for me to hear it sometimes. The car still drives great though, does not drive different at all.

That's a great idea. Gotta use this for an annoying squeak in my aftermarket A4 big brakes.
