New to me 2002 C32 AMG :)

Hey guys, just got a C32 the other night, my family has had 2 benz' growing up, and ive had several brands of cars, never actually owned a Benz myself, though I have owned 2 bmws in the past.

Im fairly mechanically savvy as I do most of the work myself and I have a lift in my garage. I currently have a 2010 CTSV, 05 Evo, 01 IS300, and a 2010 RDX in the stable

Car has 122k, little rough on the edges as I got it for $3600, clean title

Got it from a guy who bought it 2 months ago, then he decided he was gonna move to Hawaii to utilize some property he has there, he has been fixing and maintaining the car since he got it since the previous owner didnt do ****.

New alternator and battery, but the battery died the next day, go figure, did researched, said it might be the seat modules, Ive unplugged the modules and put it on a charger, so after 1 or 2 days if the battery is still alive, then it is safe to say it is the seats lol

Needs new brakes as the light came on driving home figure again

Discovered a weird thing when we start the car with the mercedes logo facing the steering column the gauges dont work and sometimes the driver seat will have a mind of its own, as the steering wheel and seat moved towards each other trying to crush me lol, but if we flip the key other way, everything works normal, I have no idea what the issue is here, my only guess is the key itself.

Planning on fixing the oil filter housing leak (so bmw status there), replacing the conductor plate, oil change, brake pads, the quick 5 minute seat connector fix, dif fluid change, and IC pump in the next month or so.

Unsure if I want to do any performance mods, might just get a tune to remove the o2 sensor code cause the cats have been deleted, wife doesnt want me to as I poured way too much money into the Evo and CTSV, and she wont even let me touch the RDX (factory turbo) lol.

Ill have pics up a little later, just wanted to say hi.

Congrats on the find! Always happy to see these cars get picked up by the right hands, they deserve good homes. From the issues you described, if it turns out not to be the seats causing battery drain, a bad battery could cause all sorts of weird things electronically with these cars just fyi. For not much money and a bit of sorting, sounds like you'll have a fun car, good luck!

It is the seats, I unplugged them yesterday morning, charged the car for like 3 hours, and then didnt touch or drive it until this morning and it fired up no issues

Im going to do the 5 minute fix when my crimps get here

I have 3 CEL, 2 are o2 sensors cause they deleted the cats, but I have one for P0600, a quick search showed me threads nothing related to what I have.

It bothers me when people delete **** on the car for noise, and not care that a CEL is on, like, I hate staring at it.

Are my only options either getting cats again, or getting a tune?

That's good then!

Those are probably the go to solutions for the cats, however you could try o2 spacers and see if they work. A lot of Porsche guys use them and have good results, doesn't cost much to make them and through trial and error you can usually find the right levels to trick the computer.

p0600 is electronic power loss of some sort, I would fix the seats and clear it and that may end up being the culprit, if it comes back you know it's something else.

The code was there prior to the seats being unplugged

Would it have anything to do with the 'ac sensor'? It is at the front of the car at the bottom, I bought a new one, but it wont be here for another week, basically my AC wont work right now, the button has the red led lit up.

Ive heard of the o2 spacer, didnt know that would work.

Would getting an aftermarket cat solve it too?

I see, I'm not familiar with the ac sensor in relation to that code as you mention but could be a possibility. Do you have a scan tool to use btw?

Yes aftermarket cats would work as long as they are 300-400cell or above, the stock ones are 600 cell. Definitely aim for metal core if possible too so they won't break apart. As for the o2 spacers, there are good YouTube videos for diy's and Porsche forums among others also have some good write ups.

Right in between two lift posts right at home ;p

Ill look up the spacer fix, I had it done on my IS300, cost me 80 bucks at a shop.

AC sensor should be here any day now.

Brakes and oil change stuff is here today, but I will do that this weekend, as well as swap springs with another car to go back to stock height, I hate the low life.

I dont like how vague P0600 code is, like there is a lot of communications. I got this from a parts store OBD2 reader essentially.

Nice find for the price.
Put a pulley on it for more power.

Id probably only do the pulley in lieu of replacing the bearing
Does it need a new belt size? or is oem the right one?

On my ctsv I need to change the belt if I change any of the pulleys to aftermarket to get the blower to spin more

Lol yeah I said the same thing when I saw it

Need to replace conductor plate as the plug is leaking, and I have some odd chirp noise from driver rear tire, too tired and sore to diagnosis any further today
