Competition of new C55?

Just curious as to what the competition was? I was talking to my brother, and we came up with some vehicles such as the Audi S4, then we thought maybe the E46 M3, but that's a coupe not a 4 door sedan. Just wondering what the competition is? Anybody know...?

A bucket on wheels
the cadi cts-V and the Audi S4 are its direct competitor due to size but its really been all about the c32 vs m3 for the past few years.

The BMW M3 coupe & Audi S4 sedan come to mind.

The M3 comes from an almost equally prestigious brand, & is the high-performance model of BMW's C-Class competitor. It is similarly priced to the C-Class AMG, & performs comparably.

The S4 also comes from a German premium brand, & is a sedan that is the high performance model of Audi's C-Class rival. It's relatively close in price, & again, performs similarly.

I would say all 3 cars are special in their own way, w/ no clear winner. Each is the best depending on the needs of its owners. To me, the C32 AMG looks good inside & out, & performs excellently while still being practical & comfortable. It is the best compromise between luxury & sport of the 3 IMO.

the CTS-V is more like a comparison for StypeR which both are powerful and mid size car, but isn't quite up there w/ the RS6, E55, and the M5.

the C32/C55 is competitor for the M3 and the S4 although I really don't like matching up the M3 and the C32/55 together because they are focused very differently which one's a GT coupe and the other is a sport sedan.

Do you think the Pontiac GTO will be up there, just asking due to how fast it is. Yes, it is a domestic car, but 350hp in a 5.7liter vehicle which cost less than $30K, definetly isn't bad.

Edit: I hope that made sense what I just said.

The '05 GTO gets the LS2 400 hp 6 liter Vette engine. With the 6-speed, good Australian build quality, great interior, new, true dual exhausts, new scooped hood...not to mention $$$ - It's something I'm going to look at before I slap leather for a C55. The '04s (GTOs) are selling new for $25,900!

I guess the vehicles depreciate really fast, but are definetly fast as anything. But it's still a domestic vehicle, you don't get that aura when you pull up at a restaraunt and you see a Pontiac GTO compared to seeing a 2001 E55 AMG

All three are super street cars, each has its uniqueness, it depends how much you care what you feel and what others think.
A deluxe super car more or less have to go with the taste and peronality of each individual.

- there are too many M3s among the 3 series out there already, a super C class has a bit more "uniqueness" even it does not look unique physically.

- C55 has a 5.5 litre engine , plenty of torque at low revs, so you can drive it and feel it just like a normal car when you are tired and don't feel the mood of racing someone.

- Not sure abouit your country, MB cars have the best reselling value , and then of course C55 costs USD 15K more than a M3 here.

- Here at home, I must say an super Audi is more unique but less popular ;then more ppl will recognize the MB C class because its popularity, so expect many Cs owners will admire your Super C.

- Finally, it may not be a great factor that super car buyers care, but do consider that the interior of the C gives you what a saloon gives. Your girlfriend's friends will enjoy the C's back seats more than if they were being put in the M3 back seats. . For the driver, the coupe front gives more racing feel.

The new M3? That will be a good match, but I'm thinking BMW will probably do some last minute adjustments to get a few second faster timings. Don't you guys agree?

Well I'd expect the "M4" to come out with at least 400rwhp; I think they will focus more on reliabilty of the motor more than trying to beat the Merc by a few horses...

I'm not sure about the 4 door "M3" though. The 2006 BMW M4 will go on sale around october of 2006, its the 2 door version of the M3. I think that's all thats different.
