Yeah sure you will. My experience has shown that when a dealer says there is no additional mark-up there usually is. This can take the form of mandatory paint protectant, mandatory interior detailing, etc that does nothing but inflate the dealer profit margin. Give me a break. Do you really thing people are that naive ? I have nothing against you making a reasonable profit but selling for sticker price and bragging about it does not make you admirable.

C55 game? While your comments are correct this could happens on almost all cars sold not just a C55. Every car sold these days has a pac and that is just a way to ensure profit for the dealership. Some places here in so-cal are asking 10k over window for C55's but those cars sit there and then sell for below sticker.

Personally I think Mark would sell the car for sticker + normal drive off fees and such. I have not seen many MB dealerships charge for all that bs stuff as of late. That is left of buying a cheaper car where the profit margin is very low.

That is a rare car though. The wood is a must have so if anyone here is looking for a C55 I would jump at that car. Plastic trim in a 60k car? Not in my book!

NORTH44 C55 - You are very wrong. Alll AMG products will only sell at what the market will bear. If a customer wants to pay list price the dealer will be happy to accomodate you. I happen to know a dealer in Ontario that will discount the C55 to make the sale. P.T. Barnum said it best pal and it was written on your forehead. I don't mean to flame you but you are obviously not being realistic. The rules of supply and demand only apply if you are willing to play that silly game. The dealer won't sell for less than he bought it but he will sell for less than sticker to make the sale.

Actually I did consider it. He has a black one and a blue one but neither has the DVD nav which I consider essential in this price range. After driving the new C6 Vette I am evaluating my needs a bit closer. As much as I like the C55 I cannot see paying more for less. The C6 will smoke your C55 for less money. And I have seen that C-class resale value even on the AMG models drops like a stone. Enjoy your C55 when you get it. It is truly a nice vehicle but the more you look at the price and what you get you really have to think about it. At this price range there is lots to choose from.

Our local dealer has one sitting on his showroom for going on 5 weeks and has offered it to me at $2500 off. I like the car but the resale sucks so I don't want to buy it and Mercedes money factors and residuals bite *** as well.

BTW if MarucsBenz says he will hook you up that is exactly what he will do.

Viper,

Yeah the c6 is cheaper! And you can even have enough money left over to buy the stereotypical gold chain and the "We're not gonna take it" song from The Who.

I don't know why people get so grumpy about price around here. Yes, dealer markup is insanely wrong and slimy. Yes, forced options which I find to be much more prevalent at BMW dealerships than Mercedes dealerships suck and turn me off too.

But, if you want a great car, with great safety features, a great brand name, and an arguably great warranty, then go with the C55.

The C6 is an awesome performer, but fiberglass body panels and a friggin' balsa wood floor just don't cut it with me. I have seen one too many "Wildest Police Chases" where the only thing left of a corvette is the two seats and a bloodied driver and passenger. The rest of the car cannot be found as it has vaporized on contact.

Every manufacturer is making their vehicles profitable somehow. Don't fool yourself into thinking the C6 is more for less. The C6 just emphasizes things that are not as emphasized on the C55 and vice versa.

Take care and good luck with your decision.

50 large and outrunning a 997 Carrera S? I think that rings a bell in terms of validity, but even after the interior refinements it is by no means on the same level as an MB, or even the common luxury brands, for that matter.

I must say that after driving a C5 Z06, going back to my C32 is rather uninspiring, but then again, they are different types of cars. If performance is your big concern ditch the C55.

Funny you should ask. It has taken her the better part of the week to even warm up to it. The ownership experience so far has been substantially lower than Mercedes, for example our interaction with BMW assist was a joke (the SOS people were good). There are features like key recognition, automatic door locks and a few others that have to be programmed at the dealership total hassle. We both like to actually drive the car which is great but its obvious to both of us that Mercedes has superior customer service and a serious edge in the "intangibles".

The E-class holds up really well in features and content to the 7 series which is surprising. I certainly wouldn't be unhappy with another E and the 7 is cool to, just different animals.

Your in dream land if you think C55's are as hot as something like the the Cl65. Common these can be picked up off dealer lots because they have been sitting. You sound like a saleman when you try to get others to believe that you drive the hottest car on the lot and people are lined up to pay full sticker. Enjoy your car, its great, but people will be taking it near invoice in a year when the next gen C is out and a new 400+ hp AMG C class is released.
