C55 A/C controls

C55 A/C controls
Has anyone noticed a very slow reaction time when turning the A/C button on or off? It seems like the car holds on to the previous setting for too long.
Also in the interesting trivia department: Early '05's had a "no" A/C button instead of an A/C button and the "lock" button was on top of the "unlock" button (reversed on September and after builds)

Don't know if this is even correct, as I have noticed this too, but does it have to do with the dust filter or maybe it's this way so that it doesn't blow out hot air when sitting for long periods of time? There has to be a reason for this as it seems intentional.

my c32 does it also. I find that turning the fan completely off, and then back on again will turn the AC off immediately.
Also...do any other C32 owners not get any cool air with the ac off? Even when its like 65 degrees out, the car still blows warm air with the ac off and the temp set to the coldest setting

The phenomena of venting warm air on the coldest setting without the AC on, regardless how cold the temperature is outside is mainly due to the prescense of the higher temperatures in the engine bay. Unlike other vehicles, the W203 chassis gets the "outside air" from inside/within the engine bay. Though the compartment is separate by a "fire wall" like in the engine bay, still the air present in the engine bay is way warmer just by the heat of the engine than the actual air that is outside the engine bay.
If you thought that the grill on the hood, not the one on the front of the hood, but the one close to the windshield is where the air was obtained, then you missed that guess... that grill is for ventilation, ease of exit of the air trapped in the engine bay mainly.

ahh, that would explain it.....but that kind of sucks. What were they thinking when they did that????I only use the AC when I need it, and usually leave it off at night when its cooler out.

I asked the same question(s)... my family and some of the partners in AMG have been friends since I was a little kid... so growing up hearing the "reasons" have always brought me to one conclusion: "Germans disctate what you will like!..." and you better not argue with them!!... I have decades of talking to my father's friends... well.. one stopped talking to me for 11 years, cause I "offended" his designs...lol.
Now, unfortunately, though there are some "flaws"... nobody disputes where MB ranks in within the other brands... or do they?

Will post a few pics tonight guys.
As far as Racing goes, I picked up the car last night with 19 miles on the clock. I'm up to 49 now but since kickdown is a no-no for the 1st 1000 miles, my Granite C55 would be more of a drag queen than a drag racer!
