Picking up my new C55 today!!

Well this is my 1st official post in a mercedes forum, as I am a rotary man. But everything changes today.......... I will be taking delivery of a blk/blk C55!!!!!

So now that I am here, I was hoping to see some pics of upgraded C55s and get an idea on some simple things I can do to mine.

I had also hoped to see some nice radar installs (hardwired) and what brands are preffered. Anyone know if the Escort's claim, for the x50 model, to be better than the Valenitien I is valid?

Thanks

First of all, Congrats on the new car.

Second, my understanding is that the x50 is very good and may have more range than the V1. Where the V1 excels is in having the arrows and the "bogey" counter. This lets you sniff out speed traps and gives you an idea if you've passed the radar or not.

I have a V1 and I love it.

congrats on the purchase post pics when ya get it

I have both 8500 and the 8500 x50. I have not tried the V1 so I cannot compare but comparing the 8500 to the x50, the range on the x50 is far superior. Range is longer, sensitivity to radar is better. Even coming around bends/curves the x50 picks it up well before you see the cop so that it gives you the chance to slow down. I am a happy customer of Escort's 8500 line

The V1 does have the arrow advantage over the 8500 but the 8500's does have a bogey counter as well. It can show up to 8 radar's being detected at once on the screen. May not be exactly the same as the V1's bogey but it works very well.

Congrats remydrm! Welcome to the 10-26 club! I took delivery of a C55 today as well...

I have a Passport 8500 which did absolutely no good for me on a couple of occasions...due to the fact radar detectors only detect those radar that are turned on! haha. One pull of the trigger (actually a couple) and I was a goner. Thank goodness for deferred adjudication!

Enjoy the new ride...I know I will!

Congrats on your C55! You too E55AMG2005, forgot to say that in my last post (lol)

It's funny b/c I just got through reading another post in the E55 forum on radar detectors and found some unanimous feed back for the "V1" and Car&Driver showed it miles ahead of the competition but their last test was in 2002 (I believe). However, I found on the Valentine 1 website where they offer to upgrade the software of your V1 so it's never obsolete! That is very cool! Here is a link...

http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades/

Let me know what you decide as I'm in the market for a good detector too!

Nick

PS What's this POP stuff all about? And here is a link to the other forum if you're interested:

Yeah 8 electric doors in a strip mall. The V1 does seem to be picking up radar but Iso far they have been so close it would not have saved me. That being said, I got clipped in my old E500 using the Passport 8500 coming around a corner. I am going to give the V1 a few months and maybe interchange the 8500 and see if for my personal needs, one is better than the other.
