Chroming stock 18 in. AMG split spokes wheels
This is my first post as I just bought a Black C55 from Mercedes of Miami last week. I sold my silver CLK430 and am enjoying the added HP and torque (while my wife can no longer complain of not having 4 doors for our child). Changing to the C55 seemed like a fair "compromise" between us.
Anyway, I see that some companies are selling AMG chrome split spoke wheels. However, I've been told that the C55 wheels are too new to be chromed. (exchanged). Is this true? Anyone reputable doing it now? Also, is it true that K&N doesn't make air filters for the C55 yet?
Any input would be appreciated.

As far as I know there is no such thing as "too new". I have an 05 E55 and I have the chrome version of my wheels. Granted the W211 was released as a MY 2003 though. Ask your dealer.

I thought there was no such thing as too new also. But it appears there is. Obviously I asked the dealer before I ordered the car and in fact insisted on them at delivery (for about $1,200 more). It never happened. He put me in touch with some wheel guy who does all their work in Miami for the dealership who I then spoke to directly. He said he spoke to all his sources in California and NOONE has the wheels available to exchange them. I also called 3 different companies and was told the same thing. Seems strange but can't get a good starting place.

Thanks for the info. I cant really be without the car for any long (over a few days) period of time. I was really interested in a company that does the chrome exchanging of the wheels. Anyone doing it now?

But I would not drop the idea that one day I will change the wheels as a refresh. As there are so few AMG MBs in my city, I would keep the stock wheels for the moment as they are pretty unique for a C class already.
BTW, not sure if the coating on the stock wheels are doing any good for chrome-ing?

I bought the car at Merecedes of Miami.
Thanks for the info but I contacted the company (OEMRIMS) on E-Bay and was told they dont have the wheels available yet. It seems like maybe these are too "new" and I'll have to wait. Regarding chrome wheels on a C55. Why not? I think if your going to do it the car should be black. I see a lot of high end cars in S. Florida and notice a lot have chrome wheels. While I don't care for them on light color cars I think black with chrome accents is classy and unique. Of courseyou can overstate the look as well.
P.S. I already had AMG split spokes for 5 years on my old CLK. Just want a new look.
P.S.S. What about the K&N air filters? Available?

I don't think there is anything with chrome wheels, though it seems alot of forum members don't care for them. To me, it matches well with all of the chrome accents on the car. Your best bet would be to have your current wheels chromed. Sure you wouldn't be able to drive your car for a couple days, but it should only cost around $100 per wheel (from what I've been told).

The only two downsides to chroming wheels is that the chroming process makes the wheel (Internally) more brittle and also will make the wheel heavier. I'll try to dig up the article that I have somewhere explains this.
