C55 accessories questions

Sheepskin Covers for C55? The mbusa "build your own" shows the partial type that cover the seating surfaces. Curious how they fit and feel. Anybody have 'em?

Cargo Net for C55? The mbusa site says it uses existing mounting points. On the C55 I looked at you had to bend existing carpeted trunk mat corners to access the mount points. I think the net eventually deform the corners of the trunk mat. Anyobody have a cargo net to confirm?

Any other dealer-available accessories people found particularly useful?

Rgds,
Norm

The 2 dealer options I have are :

1) Chrome doorhandle cups. I have these on both the benz's, i find that the paint behind the door handle gets scratched very easily (rings nails etc ), with the door cups even if they get messed up its very easy to remove and replace.

2) the trunk handle. Just got this on a whim, it actually works pretty well and I dont have to slam the trunk anymore.

Wheel Locks?

What about wheel locks accessory? I had these on two previous cars and all it seemed to do is make my life a bit more complicated when it came to checking lug torque and changing Winter wheels. I heard that they are easy to defeat for the expert wheel thief but don't really know enough about its deterrent capabilities. Do they really prevent the thief who wants your wheels? Certainly would stop an 8-yr old.

it is a little handle that attaches to the lower bolts on your licsence plate. It allows you to close the trunk w/o touching the paint. I hate fingerprints on the spoiler

Just in case if you guys havn't knoticed... there's already a handle inside of the trunk, so i think there's really no need for u to buy the accessory.

Agreed. I did that also on my previous BMW and just "palmed" the top of the trunk on the way down (no prints).

I know there is a handle there, but I have something against slamming my trunk down (which is the only way I can close it when using that built in handle. On my black car even palming it leaves marks. Anyway those are the 2 accessories I have.

I can understand that (having owned a black '00 M-Coupe). If the option works for you then it's worth it and that's all that matters. Thanks for the tip on where it was located on the mbusa site.

Update: Dealer provided free cargo net (and Winter mats) as part of the deal. Apparently I didn't look close enough because the four metal mounting cleats for the net's four hooks poke right through pre-cut slits in the carpeted trunk floor covering.

Does anyone have these?

Chromed Mirrors (set of 2)
Distinctive chrome-plated mirror housings offer a styling accent that reflects well on you, and on your Mercedes.

These are the worst looking set of Winter mats I've ever had. I know they were free but I called the sales guy up and said I would gladly give them back and pay for better ones. He said they changed over maybe the last year or two (read: cheaper). They are flat black with a dull finish that looks like they'd be horrible to clean. They only have shallow channels to hold water. Two of the mats are attached together and you need to cut them apart with blade. I'll do that today and have no idea how they fit yet. My VW mats looked much nicer than these! Anybody have the C55 accessory mats and know what I mean? Any nicer mats (made to fit the C55) available anywhere.

Norm

While I'm on the subject of floor mats ...

I guess MB doesn't believe in securing the passenger side floor mat with snaps like the drivers side. Must be some good engineering decision behind that. So I'll just politely ask the passenger to straighten it out when they get it all messed up.

I have the cargo tray, as I routinely carry a lot of crap in the trunk. It fits great and serves my needs well. Those chrome mirror housing covers are ghetto, I think Audi does some cheesy thing like that on the S4. Maybe if they were stainless or brushed alum. that would be cool. I would also like a rocket motor.

Sorry for the delayed response mate!

You can get the trunk handle from any dealer they are about 16-18 bucks.

the install is a no brainer, you just take off your license plate, and place the handle under the plate's 2 lower screws. then u just reinstall the plate.

I'll take some pics later today and post them up.
