Got a reckless driving ticket
Location : Celebration, FL ( east lawn drive )
Violation: Reckless driving & Speeding while construction workers present
Time: 7:00am
So here i am on my way to work, running a tad late, so i slam back two hot steamy cups of coffe and im on my way. So as im leaving my house i decide to kick it up a notch to make up for a little lost time. Speed limit is 25, i figure 65 should be suitable considering the size of this street. Now from behind a tree, a cop jumps out like someone was about to brand him, frantically waving his arms and jumping in front of my car while im no further then 20ft from him. I stop as fast as possible trying my best to not hit him. He comes to my car, slams his radar on top of my beautiful black mercedes, and says to me " get out of the car, your going to jail " being that its 7am in the morning and im a young kid, i figure this guys trying to scare me. Well he wasnt, next thing i know he calls one of my friends to come pick the car up. Get a ticket for going 65 in a 25 and reckless driving. Now he takes me to jail, here i am sitting in a holding cell sitting next to a bunch of bums in raggaty clothes. Time ticks by, finally get to make my call at 11am, call my buddy, tell him to come with 500 cash to get me out of this hellhole. Hes on top of it, on his way, 3pm rolls by, still not out. Ask to make another call, still a no from the guard, finally after some persuasion i get to make a call.
Call my buddy and ask where he is, well sure enough hes been sitting in the office arguing with the jail employees since noon. They kept saying i wasnt there, and he couldnt post bail for a person who wanst there. Finally 6pm rolls by and i finally get out. This sucks
Speeding ticket = $ 326
Bail = $ 500
Traffic school = $ 50
Anyone have a good lawyer friend in the orlando area? If so i would appreciate it.
Thanks

Second, call a lawyer, NOT A BUDDY, when you are detained.
Third, take this as a lesson and move on.
Sorry, I can't make any positive comment there.
As far as the ticket goes, you're proababy better off just pleading it out, see if you can get it reduced to speeding. If you get a reasonable prosecutor and tell them you spent the day in jail and have learned your lesson they will probably be willing to plea it down. If you have a long rap sheet, pay the fine and walk away.
Good luck

This is what I agree most. You could have gotten out the jail earlier if You had called a lawyer in the first instant
Sorry to hear this bad experience, it must be awful to be in jail for respectable Benz owner

I got speeding ticket too. He clocked me at 117mph but he was nice enough to put 80 on the ticket. I need a lawyer too. anyone know a good one around boston?
Hopefully you learned from your mistakes. I wish the cops could be more selective and pick out the "real" reckless drivers but being as busy as they are - they really on speeding as their sole marker for this. Being in a construction zone just doens't help either. I don't agree with the cops - but in this case, I think you did well to post your experience so yourself and others can learn from this.

Around town at lower limits (30mph in my case) is when I am more likely to get caught because the roads easily support 40mph and they will ticket at this speed. That's where my V1 helps to keep me "honest".
We all don't visit the track and the C55 was not intended as a track car anyway. The (rhetorical) question is how one balances safety and fun with not getting ticketed. It's not easy and we can all get caught for sure. My V1 helps a little but I don't rely on it 100%.

About 2 weeks ago i was driving near the beach at about 3am. There was this drawbridge i drove over and the roads were very empty. So i floor it just as i am going down, no cars in sight. About 2 seconds later my friends says watch out for that cop to the left. I look over and there were 2 cop cars with 2 cops standing outside at the back of their cars just talking. I didnt see a radar. This was on the left hand side of the street and there is a divider so they could not just drive across. I see a cop staring at me as i am slamming on the brakes trying to slow down, and i see him run to his car. At this point i said let me keep driving and pretend i didnt see him. So i was comming up to an empty traffic light and i knew if it would have turned red the cop would have already caught up and got me. So instead i make a left turn before the light into a shopping mall parking lot. I drive fast to get to the other side of the mall. Then i kept driving behind the mall where i wound up in an apartment complex, i drove very slow there to waste time. I figured i would give him some time to pass. After about 5 minutes i started driving home. Well to make a long story short. After that i got home an hour later and thank god he did not find me. The few cops i saw at that hour got me scared ****. But, i think it was the best thing for me to do. The cop did not wave me over or anything, so i figure if he did find me and ask why i kept driving i would just say i didnt see him. I was just imaging what it would feel like to be on cops. :p
1. I get stopped b/c they want to check my license and registration and the ******* asks if I stole the car.
2. last month I get stopped on an HOV lane by a trooper when I had 2 ppl in the car driving within speed limit and since he saw I had 2 ppl in the car, he made up a BS excuse about pacing me and that i was going 80 in a 55 (how could he have been pacing me when I was driving at speed limit and there was a car behind me, in front of me, and to the right of me... he purposely cut off the guy behind me to get me for NOTHING.) Currently im taking this ******* to court!!! I'd love to see him prove with any sorta evidence that he was pacing me!!! This guy was probably trying to fill his ticket quota, stopped me b/c he thought he didnt see anybody in my passenger seat and when he came up to me and did, he probably made a BS excuse so that he didnt waste his time pulling over somebody INNOCENT.
3. about a year ago, i go to pick up a girlfriend of mine at a street race b/c she didnt want to be there anymore and the cops block off all exits as i get there then let everyone go except me at the end of the night. Racist *******s make racist comments and chinese jokes towards me. Makes me take everything out of my car, checks my car for drugs, asked waht that white dust on my center console was (it was dust from the altoids), i answer him politely and ask if i can go now then he calls me a gook and makes me stay longer. At the end of the night, every1 was free to go but I was the only one who ended up leaving latest and with a street racing ticket.
4. Last night as I am driving home, I come to a construction zone, there is raw sewage with rocks, dirty water, and crap all over the road and as i try to make a U turn when it was 2am with no traffic around, ******* cop stops me and makes me go right through that crap water and rocks....I am risking banging up my rims on those rocks (thanks God I was lucky and my rims were OK) and the residue from that dirty water I drove through that splashed all in my wheel well wont come off my front plastic fenderliners now.
I HATE COPS I HATE COPS I HATE COPS...

my first ticket was a while ago when I was 17, I was driving my C280 Sport (which was pretty new at the time) and I had the windows down, music blaring, and sunroof open. I was on PCH in Torrance (CA). The road was totally open, with no one in sight, except for a cop hiding in the bushes. He comes out and pulls me over. We pull over to a parking lot, and I'm there scared ****less, and he saw it. I hurrily got out my license and registration. I had my hands on the wheel, and my naive *** was saying, "I'm so sorry officer..." He asked for my proof of insurance which I clumbsily pulled out. Then I said sorry again, and the cop said, "don't worry, we all get caught up in the moment." I asked him how fast I was going, and he said, "do you really want to know?" Of course I say yes, and he tells me 100mph. I ask him, "are you gonna write me up for that?" and his reply was "no, you're nice." So he wrote me up for 42 in a 35 instead of 100 in a 35.
Boy, if I got thrown in jail, my *** would be grass...
Good luck man, I wish you all the best!
When you go before the judge, ask him (or do this before - I dunno, I was told this by a guy I worked with once) if the police officer that wrote you the ticket has completed the required amount of training hours for writing tickets. If the officer hasn't (which is apparently common), he can't be writing tickets and it's thrown out of court. There was more info to ask for but I can't remember what it was. Apparently this got a friend of mine out of a ticket once. But you know how those stories are, everyone has a way to beat the ticket.

yeah and also question if he is properly trained to use a radar gun, if he went to all the classes, did he calibrate it before his shift and after his shift to check accuracy.
