Whenever you stick the key in the ignition, the steering wheel in supposed to go down to the preset setting. Sometimes though it doesn't and I have to move it down there myself. I noticed this in both my old C32 and C55...

I've had that problem 3 time in the last 87K miles. The dealer takes care of it for me. Just when I think the car is at 100%, dumb sutff happens.

It is not only MB, it happens in Lexus, BMW and Jags---its all about electronics, they are not 100% fool-proof.

Nearly the same thing happened to me a few months ago. The seat (not the steering wheel) woouldn't move automatically with the key in/out. During Service A, the dealer looked at it and actually kept the car for 3 days trying to fix it! When I got it back, it wasn't fixed at all. They replaced the power module under the seat with no help. Funny thing though, after my accident repair, it just started working again!! I personally think that they disconnected the battery while replace my hood/grill, and it must have reset itself......... I don't recommend a front-end collision to try to fix it though!!!

I think sometimes todays cars need an occasional reboot.

glad you posted this - i was going to bring my c32 in for this problem. I use the easy-entry/exit feature so the seat adjusts everytime i get in and out of the car. I notice when the steering wheel doesn't adjust, the seats also don't adjust.

Have I mistaken something ?

The steering wheel will only move to its memorised position when the door is closed with together the ignition key is inserted.
It works for me this way, and I still do not see why it is a problem?

It's happened in almost every Benz I've owned one time or another:

99 CLK320, 00 ML320, 03 CLK320, 04 C32...

But not yet in my 03 E55...we'll see...

The problem didn't bother me because it never did it twice in a row.
