The wonders of potholes
The results:
2 Flat tires
1 Bent RIM
I'm so glad i got the ROAD Tire Hazard Warranty so it's all covered.. but the only problem is the RIM is backordered and they don't know when they'll get one.
Watch out for those potholes!
I've been driving the Cayenne in the bad weather. It has 20 inch wheels, but they have survived large pieces of wood and a metal girder on the 710 freeway at 50+ mph, and a massive pothole that I didn't see coming around the corner.
My bro'-in-law has forged 22 inch wheels on his Range Rover and bent 3 of them TWICE during the last two rainstorms. Fortunately he is friends with the manufacturer, so he get's his at cost. You won't believe the 3x-4x markup on these things.
My feelings on all this: even though it may look very nice, don't get bigger wheels unless you can afford to repair/replace them on a routine basis

Imagine my surprise when I returned three hours later to see a vehicle being loaded onto a flatbed with a local P.D. on the scene. Obviously they did not mark the crater.
BTW, my Cayenne Turbo was not damaged due to the extra cushion of the high profile 18" winter tires. Forget about it if the 20" summer tires hit the pothole.
Did you hit these potholes on University going towards the 91? My friend bent up a HRE on 30 profiles so bad that the tire dismounted acouple of weeks ago
anywayz, I got a 3 inche nail lodged in the left rear today going towards 60 on university to get my dinner. I had to get my dad to bring the heavy duty jack from home cuz the one they gave in the car is already bent before I even used it. More detail in the other thread i made.
How easily will 19's bend with 35 and 30 profile tires? Does the hole pretty much have to be a gigantic crater? Will small little sunk in man holes and stuff cause problems?
