Designo Graphite, Techtite Gray, Granite Gray, or...
so heres the situation....
I am going to order my C55 within the next couple of weeks. I want some sort of gray. The desgno graphite will be a massive upchrage. Somwhere in the area of $4,000 its going to be considered a special order paint color. The granite gray i ahve seen in many pics by a member of this forum from canada. I ahve never seen a techtite gray c55 So lets take your opinions on this one. Should i spend the 4 grand and get an ultra nice and very rare desgno graphite, or stay rather rare and get the granite gray, or get the techtite. Below are pictures of a granite gray and graphite any input would be appreciated. The 2nd pic is graphite on an sl65 and 3rd pic is graphite on s65

IMO Graphite is the best looking color of the three. If you do not mind paying the extra, I would say go for it because I beleive you would be among the most rare C55 Graphite owners. If you do not want to pay the surcharge go Tectite. It is similar to Graphite but not quite. Buy what would make you the happiest

Tectite is pretty rare on all C-class, super rare on C32 and C55 AMG.
Tectite is a dark charcoal gray with green undertones. It is a somewhat common
old-school MB color but only common in the other models.
There are two or three C32's in Tectite, no C55's (that have ever spoken up on the internet). In the beginning in the US, Tectite was an added cost option, then it was dropped in 2003 or 2004.

thank you all for posting your input....my local dealer is calling up mbusa to find out exactly what the surcharge will be. I will keep you all updated

Back in '02, when I bought my first Benz (an AMG 55 cabriolet), "Designo" was code for upgraded paint AND interior (different leather/wood trim). Perhaps checking this box on the '05 models still means something is done with the interior...for a price of $4k, I might think that. Worth checking out...

Tectite Grey C32
My favorite color, but also the rarest. The granite grey is nice as well, but I personally did not like how it looked in the sunlight -- too much of a light blue hue for me.
