Attempting to lower intake temps...

Since our intercoolers are air/water intercoolers and share the same fluid used as radiator fluid, i was thinking of trying this stuff...

It's just like water wetter... Save your money. I'm trying to see if we can bolt on a new heat exchanger from a 03+ cobra to help with outlet temps.

I think the best coolant for this purpose is Engine Ice. I plan to put it in my car's AWIC system soon. Motorcycle guys swear by the stuff. http://www.engineice.cc/products.html

BTW, it really is a coolant, not a coolant additive.

check out http://www.m-p-c.demon.co.uk/problend/40below1.html
Which ever you choose, they work best with distilled water only. No antifreeze.

Not exactly on topic but has anyone tried to insulate the air boxes? I've heard this old trick works very well on these cars because of the airbox location - right on the engine. In most cars this is not the case.

I have used water wetter in the past and it does make a difference. The products work by reducing the surface tension of the water in your coolinng system (at least that is my understanding) allowing for more efficient transfer of heat.

One note is that the compounds break down in ~12 months and become more corrosive than your normal cooling mix.

I dont think the intercooler gets hot enough for water wetter to work. Its my understanding that the water needs to be at boiling temperatures for water wetter to work.

How do you plan on using this product in the Intercooler System without changing out the radiator coolant since the two are interconnected?

Actually, I am seperating the two systems. I will run the MB coolant in the engine, and Engine Ice in the IC. Here is a diagram of what I am doing:

I already tried the intercooler fogger on the heat exhanger a while ago. It didnt really do much. The ammount of Co2 required was not efficient to cool the fluid in the intercooler system

Yeah, I kinda figured that the sprayer by itself would not do a great deal, especially once you are moving. That is why I included a coil. We will see...
