Im thinking about buying an early C32 AMG and i was wondering is there anything to look out for? Is 60,000 miles ok? And are there any options worth getting or avoiding? Ive heard that the command system is not very good on the s-class.
Im sorry if ths question has been asked before. Apart from the engines what upgraded did the c-class get in 2004? Is it possible to get the some upgrades done on a early c-class?
Thank you
Regarding the COMAND Nav, I love mine (C55). Its very easy to use and has great storage capacity for previous destinations. Having the NAV display in the smaller screen in the dashboard is a great feature as well. Nice to be able to keep the eyes on the road when using some of the massive horsepower
I have never driven a C32 but the main change between that and the C55 is the V8 engine vs. the V6. In order to accomodate the larger V8 the car is fitted with the CLK front end. Looks a little more aggressive and differentiates it slightly from the normal C-class.
The interior was also redesigned, best to check out a new one at your local dealer to see the changes inside.
Test drive both if you can, and then decide. I have the command, Nav, which I really do not need, but I purchased my car from a private owner and I got a "Steal" of a deal
Are there any side by side pics of the C32 and C55 so you can see the differences? Any pics of the interior upgrades aswell??
Here in the UK the starting used price for a C32 is £20k. Thats not bad considering they were £50k 3 years ago.
My plan is to buy a C32 and upgrade many parts to the facelift c-class. Like the rear bumper and quad exhaust.

The main exterior difference are the rear lights and front grill. Is it posible to fit these on a C32?
The big and main difference is the interior. It looks so much better on the new c-classes. Compared to the new one the C32 is crap.
Im thinking of getting the aluminium trim instead of wood. Are there any retrofits for the C32 to getting it look like a C55?
Also on the C32 it has 1 big dial but the 2 on the c55 look better.
Thanks guys.
The C55 frontend is based on CLK, thus, the C55 grill should not fit the C32 which is itself a 'pure' C-Class design. Anyone , an I right?

C32,
Please don't take this the wrong way, but maybe you should consider waiting a while with the purchase and getting a C55. Maybe you can find a gently used one in a year or so. It just sounds like you really want a C55. You can certainly change modify a C32 to some extent, but it will not turn into a C55.
It seems a shame to buy a C32 if its not the car you want.
Cheers
Its taken the C32 3 years to drop to £20k so i can imagine it will take 3 years for the C55 to drop to £20k.
I like BMW's more than mercs but i do really like AMG mercs. I currently own a BMW 840Ci which is worth £15k. Im thinking about selling the 8 and putting another £5k for the C32.
I think the C32 at £20k is bargain. It will be more faster, spacious and economical than my BMW. Also it will have more gadgets like satnav and command.
I just like the interior of the C55 better than the C32. Everything else looks about the same. I know the C55 engine is much better but it will expensive to run and thats why im getting rid of my BMW.
