Stereo

Has anyone done a total refit of the stereo on their C43? I would like to replace the head unit with a Sony I have, replace the mids with seperates, and add a sub. Any experiences/suggestions of sizes and techniques would be appreciated.

I used to work for Sony. The stuff they used to put out was junk, but the last two or three years is as good or better than anything else in the same price range. Check the stats. But thanks for the advice.

more stereo stuff

Is anyone else interested in the radio post? I can take it somewhere else if this is more of a car/engine/running hardware group. But I have been doing some searching around and I think the fronts are 6.5" and the rears 5 1/4". As to be expected, Mercedes makes nothing easy with dealing with the stereo, several places will not pull out the head unit because of something to do with the security system, and you have to have Mercedes pull it themselves. No add ons or upgrades can be done using the Bose system so it is an all or none deal as far as the upgrade. Looks like $400 just for the install, plus price of equipment.

If anyone has done any stereo upgrades on thier AMGs I would interested in seeing the final result and hearing any experiences you might have.

I go pick up my car in less than 48 hours now. Can't wait. Anybody in Annapolis wanna get together for a bite to eat at Carol's in the afternoon and talk a little AMG.

As far as I know the only hitch is you'll need a special set of tools, they look like keys, in order to yank the stereo head unit - they sell 'em at performance products. You picking up the C43 on the auto trader?

Yeah, it was listed on Auto Trader. Up in Annapolis from a private seller. Headed there Saturday morning to pick her up and bring her to a good home.

Yeah, it looked pretty good in the pics, and the seller stated "motivated" so you probably got a good deal (I hope) that car is pretty much a clone of mine as you probably saw on my other post. My steering wheel is getting redone right now by www.aglausa.com I'll post pics once I get it back. Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'll be happy to help you out. cohibas4u@yahoo.com

Hey Gang. I scheduled an appt to get my stereo redone in the car on Thursday. Just in time to enjoy it, and the car of course, on my drive home to Kentucky for Labor Day weekend with the fam.

I am having a bandpass box built and ported through the first aid kit on the rear deck, single 12'. Sony MP80 head unit that I have had for awhile now. I am replacing the fronts with Infinity Kappa 6.5 components, and 5 1/4 coaxs in the rears. JL audio 4300 pushing those four.

If anyone has any feed back or wants me to post pics/insight once done, just let me know.

Anyone know someone shopping for a cheap Bose system?
