Srs Please Help!
Hey guys! right now my only problem is SRS light. Dealer said they would check it, but they will charge me for checking it ($96.50 an hour), I read it here in the forums that it is a common problem. Isn't there someone, some C43 owner or somebody fixed it DIY? I just need an input on how to detect the problem. There must be someone fixed this without the dealer.....
Thank you
Thank you

SRS is a supplemental restraint system usually it's controlled by a module with few sensors, wireing and the air bags.It sounds simple but you must be carefull with diagnostics because if the system goes off it causes damage to the interior and a big mess.If you dont know anything about electronics leave it alone and seek professional help.If you are capable then you will need a scanner to comunicate with the module and service manual find out what is causing the light to come on and how to fix it.

Thank you sir. I ordered a nice scanner from EBAY, waiting for it. I already knew most of you said, I was wondering maybe someone got brave and tried to fix it himself, and took pictures while doing it. I belonged to the saab forum before here ( i swapped my Saab with this C43). In saab forum people were taking pictures of everthing they fixed. So I saved thousands of dollars like that. I don't wanna be DEALER-DEPENDENT..
Thank you again for your help sir

you're welcome, btw you don't have to call me sir. Some people do a nice write up on the repairs here ,but without knowing what failed it's pretty hard to pin point the cause.Once you get a code from the scanner then try the search tab , good luck

It is unlikely that the scanner you are getting from eBay will help, as it is probably an ODBII scanner. As far as I know, the only way to get codes from the SRS system is with a MB STAR diagnosis scanner, or clone such as WinSTAR. These are $$$$$. These are also the only things that will clear a code stored in the SRS system. So, in other words, you are stuck with the dealer, or a well equipped independant mechanic.

your going to need to scan the car(MB labtop). the srs tool might reset the light but if you have a problem in the srs system the light will come right back on. the light is not just on its on because your having a problem with the srs.
could be a seatbelt, brake light switch, airbag, ecu, and so much more!!! good luck

Buddy - check all the electrical fittings for the pax seat. These are at the end of the footwell carpet just before you get to the rear seat's ductwork for the heater. I think, the SRS one is orange - I could be wrong. Unplug and reseat those connectors and see if that helps. Apparently the SRS thinks there's a child in the seat (weight < 30LBS) or connection is bad. Also, do a thread search for more ideas too...I'm off to work so talk to ya later!

i would follow staples suggestion, on certain year of c43's, there was a common problem with wires being too short on the front seats, so when someone moves the seat all the forward or all the backwards, the wires get unplugged. good luck.

Will try that, and will give you an update on this. I can't afford $800 for a new sensor

Have you seen the documentation for this? I would love to take a look at it.

Hello Staplegun, are these fittings close to the rear of the seat or close to the front? Or, right in the middle? I am gonna do this today.
Thank you

SRS reset tool
I bought my C43 2 months ago with SRS light on, does anyone have SRS reset tool? I am thinking about buying one. I wonder if it really works or light comes back up again later?
Also second question, since %90 chance the child sensor is the problem of SRS light being on, would it be ok to totally disable the sensor(take it out) and bypass wires to make the SRS light go off instead of paying $750 to replace the sensor?
I hope i was clear, if not please ask me questions...
Thank you

Sick Of Srs Light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if any of you guys tried to bypass this sensor. I do not have baby or child seat, and I want that light off. Instead of paying $750 for the sensor, there must be a way to bypass the child seat sensor. Let me know if i am wrong please...
Thank you

The light is still on, and i am sick of it. You told me that there was a yellow cable underneath the pax seat, i can slide the frame, but can not unplug it..... Do you think we can still get together at lunch next week and use ur srs reset tool?
Thank you
Buddy

Dude, you cant bypass the sensor, the control unit will always look for it upon the self test. Your stuck with it until you replace the faulty unit, or remove the cluster and take the light out.
