Hello!! And Spot lights/Fog Lights or whatever you want to call them.
Hello chaps.
Can I say that I am glad to have found this forum.
I have just bought a 1999 C43 AMG with full history and it is perfect apart from one thing.
How do you get the spot lights on?
I have checked the bulbs and they are ok.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Wayne
Oh I need to resize that picture

Hello Vardar and thanks for the welcome.
I have owned Mercedes since I was 17 now and straight away tried to turn the lights on the traditional way. However this just turns the fog lights on within the headlight cluster under the Xenons not the ones on the bottom of the bumper.
I am puzzled how I can turn them on.
Thanks
Wayne

I dunno how Euro-spec cars are wired, what vardar indicated is correct. On US-spec autos the second notch activates the rear fog on the left rear.

I think the C43's are identical to the C36's. Pulling out the light switch knob to the first notch will turn on the fog lights located next to the headlights. Pulling out to the second notch will turn on the fog lights in the lower bumper and the rear fog light.

they took them out and stuck them into the bumper to make it look cool.
functionality suffered though, i think. i with i could easily re-enable the original lights to be able to use them too without too much re-wiring.

Hello chaps.
Well I have to say I have tried everything. I have fog lights in the headlight assembly and they come on with the fog light switch. I have Xenons too but just cannot get the other fog lights to come on. I think I will just give up.

I think a good idea would be to pull out the center strip on your bumper and see if they are even hooked up. Like I stated earlier, the US-spec models are wired to light up the bumper fogs when you engage the first detent on your light switch. The previous owner may have "tinkered" around and did some creative wiring.

Thanks StapleGun have done as you suggested and as far as I can see they are wired up. I will look into it further and see if they are bypassed anywhere else.
Thankfully it is not a major problem.

just wondering, when you get out of the car do you see them engage (for about 30 seconds) as well?

if they had two other drivers would think you are braking.
what are they supposed to think when they see one light i'm not sure
![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
probably that you are braking and the right brake light is out

The reason why c43's have another set of foglights in the headlights is because the non amg c class models dont have bumper foglights. We share the same headlights as them but they are not hooked up. The non xenon models of the amg have them as well. By the way HID bulbs do get very hot.

just an fyi ... I'm going to move to ram cold-air intake in the fog light's locations and I'll be hooking-up the fogs in the headlights. I just had my right lens replaced (was cracked) and my Indi Mech says all the wiring is there; just gotta hook it up. No worry about heat as I erroneously thought.

Well it is pre-wired but where do these wires stop. The plug has a negative and positive then they go inside the headlamp. Is there a easy way to get them hooked up? Plus you cant just add the extra load if they are combined with the bumper fogs. I guess the only correct way is to run new relay, fuse and wires.
