well i have driven e36 euro M3 when i was living in europe some years ago. never driven the us m3.
euro m3 has 320hp and us m3 is about 240hp.
so the us m3 should not be comperable to us C43. euro m3 accelerates 0-62 in about 5.5 sec, which is way higher than C43 but the us m3 should be slower than 6 secs.
why do i still hear guys saying e36 m3 is faster than C43?
do they just confuse the specs of euro vs. us ?

if u wanted to paper race 0-60 mph... most m3 tested in the u.s. ran mid to low 5sec, while c36/c43 ran high 5.
The US vs Euro 0-60 was basically the same. The euro would shine up top where there was more power.
The euro weighed more and had 3.15 final drive
The us had more low end torque with with a 3.23 final drive (3.38 for the vert)and had more agressive gear ratios to make up for its power.its crippled manifold had nothing up top tho.
up untill about 5k rpms the cars felt exactly the same.after that is when the euro would shine.

euro M3 (e36) could have SMG as an option. I am not sure about the US M3.
was AMG speedshift available for C43? (including My00 with touchshift)

the euro had a 6speed and the US had a 5spd
there were other major differences but the bottom line is they had very close 0-60 times.
I think the official time for the US was 5.5 to 60

Damn, you guys are really getting boned. I know in the UK petrol (gas) is higher octane than in the US and you have different emissions standards, but that's bad. 80 horsepower's a lot to lose.Originally Posted by Substance

What are the figures for the US spec C43? Handbook figures on my UK model are 225 kW (305 bhp) @ 5850 rpm & 410 Nm (302 lb ft) @ 3250-5000 rpm. Enough to be going on with
