Lowered the car...finally w/pics

Took a little longer than I thought it would First time messing with a benz suspension. All done though. H&R springs with #2 pads front and rear. I'm going to replace the rear pads this weekend with #3 or #4. The car bottoms out alot with two people in the back seat. I usually have a couple people back there on weekends so it's not practical this low.

I have some extra pads if anyone wants them - #4 rear and #3 and #5 front. Just cover shipping (couple bucks) and they're yours.

BTW: I really love how the silver shows off the sculpted body panels with the shardows. It makes the body kit look a lot sharper than the black does IMO. Looks great. I like that blacked out grill too. Was thinking of the same thing for mine.

Wow great drop congrats. You better install some other pads like you said so the wheels won't rub!

I got Brabus springs with #1 pads all around. But I will install some #2 pads in the rear for the race track

enjoy...

SDR: I have seen in your signature that you have some RennTech and EVO sport mods on your C43. How many miles does your car have and are you happy with the power gain?

Thanks
Phil

Thanks for the compliments guys!

As of now the car has settled in a bit and the rubbing issue is....an issue. The pass. rear rubs very easily with just myself driving. I'm heading outside in a couple minutes to check it out. It's only that side and tire though. I drove around my work parking lot last night turning quickily in different patterns as well as rolling over slow bumps to see just what will cause the rub. It dosen't take much let me tell you. During driving it takes a pretty hard left at speed to rub, which still shouldn't happen as far as I'm concerned.

SDR: Thanks for the offer on the pads. I've ordered the #4's already. However I sent you a PM about the #3's.

Yes you're right. They are factory ones, standard here in Europe for AMG's!

Thanks for your compliment I'm still working on it.

My UK spec. C43 doesn't have park sensors on it... maybe it was only fitted to LHD models?

Cheers,

As I'm sure your all sooooo concerned....I fixed the rubbing issue.

Ended up being from the body shop that just fixed my pass. rear quarter. The damage was minor but they must have had to re-shape the fender a tiny bit. When looking down the side of each rear quarter you could see that the repaired side sloped in about 1/4 inch towards the back of the tire. I made my own fender roller thing out of a wooden poll and some other crap. Covered the end with a rage and used some moderate/light pressure and rolled the fender edge out to where it should be. Measured both sides and they are even with no rubbing any more.

#3 or #4 pads are still going on the rear though......

Good luck with the H&R's I hate and I'm taking them off.My car rubs with the 18" mono's and #4 pads all around. However your car does look good with the drop and probably won't be as affected with rubbing issues once you use #4 pads with the stck 17" rims!

I went through a lot of springs/pads and finally found the Vogtland/#4 combo to be perfect for me with the 18" Carlsson's. Not sure if I have a good pic of the ride height... will post if I find one.

K... that settles it - I need a new camera :/

I think it should be going in around June 18th for the HP upgrade. Very excited about that. You will have to get out here for sure. I can have plenty of things lined up to keep us busy. I'm 30min from the ocean and about 40min from Boston. Red Sox games, bars, you name it. Summer can be really fun here. I'll line up some special company for ya too bud..... I'll post a flyer in the gym.

Spring pads are on their way bro. And for comparison sake, here is the Vogtland/Koni setup with #4 on all four corners:

Stance looks good, real good. I would hang on to those wheels. I had the same set for my 99' C230K. Never installed them and sold them when the car was totaled. Wish I hadn't........

I did wonder what all the fuss was about with lowering the suspension.. until I saw a picture of how high the ride height is with the standard US setup. It looks like it's on stilts! I bet the AMG engineers were grinding their teeth at having to fit that...

Here's a picture of my standard euro spec C43.. if you could have bought one of these, gentlemen, it would have saved you a bunch of work

Cheers,

Plug

Please do tell about H&R's. It has taken me 2 flipping days (afterwork) to install them myself, along with bloody knuckles, cut arms, and a smashed finger. I will burn the damn car to the ground if the springs suck. Scratch that, I will blow it up....then burn the remains.

Hey Nitrogen....kickass stance on the C43
