Exclamation NEW Mercedes WHITE STAR Flat Badge for W202 AMG hoods!

Introducing the WHITE STAR Flat Badge replacement for the OEM upright hood stars. This part will fit any Mercedes-Benz that uses the #210 880 01 86 upright star -- including the W202 AMG sedans -- because it is made from the same OEM part.

One can swap between the WHITE STAR Flat Badge or the OEM star in seconds… Install the traditional star for formal occasions, and substitute the WHITE STAR Flat Badge for a sporty, everyday silhouette.

I make these badges in my machine shop, mostly on the weekends. After disassembling the OEM star, I machine the socket required to accommodate a legacy White Star insert I created myself. I cement this insert in place, then cast a tan plug, which holds the mount lock in place, and reassemble everything.

As a result, the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is a hand-made, limited production item. Each one is signed and serial numbered, and comes with a matching certificate of authenticity, carrying the same serial number. There are a handful of these currently in circulation in the US. I plan to make these only as long as there is demand.

If you've kept your W202 until now, you've probably had your fill of the only option to the factory upright star -- the plastic SLK Badge that fades in the sun, and sits on top of the hood. The WHITE STAR Flat Badge sits within the divot (like the OEM star), so it is more flush with the hood.

So you now have the WHITE STAR Flat Badge to consider as a unique alternative.

If interested, send me an e-mail at the DFWdude@tx.rr.com...

Here are a few photos of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various MBs, borrowed from members who have shared...

Here is a link to a much longer thread on the subject...

Very ugly! The factory upright star is legendary, why replace some symbol of a legend with flat ugly one?

Don't tell me now it's better aerodynamics, and save money on gas......

Normally I wouldn't respond to this, but since you seem intent on messing up my sponsor thread with your negativity, I suppose I have to...

Look around you... 3/4 of the entire Mercedes-Benz line come off the assembly line with "Flat Mercedes Stars," including many of the most "exclusive" cars:

CL-Class
CLS-Class
CLK-Class
SL-Class
SLK-Class
ML/M-Class
G-Class
R-Class
SLR-McLaren

In contrast, there are just a few with upright stars:

S-Class
E-Class
C-Class

So, Mercedes-Benz has dispensed with the "legendary" upright hood star as "tradition" long ago. If a flat hood badge is not your cup of tea, that's fine. You're welcome to your opinion, you've expressed it, and I have responded. This thread is for those who ARE interested in my WHITE STAR Flat Badge, so please move on to trash some other well-meaning thread.

But how do you use it as a gunsight when that M3 is in front of you holding you up?

If you are using your upright star as a gunsight, you are not looking down the road as you should...

Shameless X-Mas bump... Guys, I realize you are buying gifts for others for the Holidays, but you should remember to treat yourself to a WHITE STAR Flat Badge as well. Contact me at DFWdude@tx.rr.com for details.

normally i wouldn't respond to this as i wish your amazingwhite star badges would just go away, but i feel i need to.

in the mercedes benz design language, coupes and roadsters, and cabrios get a star in the grille, and a flat star on the hood. Sedans get a raised star upright from the hood. there is exceptions, but that is the general rule. and yes, the upright star is legendary, have you ever been to the museum at Unterturheim (sp?) and seen the cars from the 20s and 30s with their upright stars???
i realise the w204 Avantgarde has a star in the grille, a shameless attempt trade of the 80 odd years of heratige (sp?) created.

and please, dont tell me your WHITE STAR (why the stupid capitals???) is a throw back to the past, i dont care. i just dont.

wow, that feels better.

Thanks for your opinion.

If you really wished my product would simply go away, you wouldn't post comments, because when you do, it bumps this thread to the top of the forum queue, where it is seen by more members, resulting in more sales. So, Thanks!

And thus, several W202 owners have purchased WHITE STARs recently. I hope that some of you will post pictures here, as I don't believe we have any picture examples of this on a W202. So please post a couple shots here.

WHITE STAR Flat Badge Maintenance (if needed)

STILL waiting to see some pics of W202s with my badge. Are you guys bashful, or what?

To keep your WHITE STAR Flat Badge nice and shiny white, a handful of members have written me to recommend the following products. You may already have these mag wheel cleaners in your car wash kit. A tin is about $4-$5 at your local auto store.

The Mothers product works especially well. Just put a dollup on the white star inlays, let sit for a couple minutes then wipe off. Minimal rubbing needed.

Minimize contact with the blue laurel wreath areas… these are in blue LACQUER, so the cleaners should not mar them. But I’d steer clear just to be sure.

I’ve been testing to find the right products, but thanks to members for these leads. Of course, this only applies to the few of you with Badges showing any wear... the vast majority are seeing none...

Any chance you can make the same badge with the Affalterbach logo?

As noted in other threads in answer to this question, I do NOT make the WHITE STAR Flat Badge with the Affalterbach logo. It wouldn't be a WHITE STAR Flat Badge if I did.

I promise to provide pics.

EDIT: not AMG though

you can buy flat affalterbach AND AMG eblems elsewhere... the white star looks strange with the edge lines making the star look way fatter than it actually should be....
