Talking Hi everyone -- new owner

Hi everyone,

I wanted to post and introduce myself to the community, as I just purchased a '99 C43 about two weeks ago. I've lurked on here for a while and found your advice particularly useful when I went to purchase the car.

Coming from an '01 GTI VR6, the C43 is a different beast altogether, but a beast it is! This car has all the elements I was looking for; powerful engine, superb handling, and a comfortable ride.

My purchase of this makes me the 5th member in my family to own a W202 C-Class. My father has a very long history with MB's and I grew up around them, so migrating to them from the VW was a natural evolution. I'm not regretting it so far as I'm loving this car!

It's a '99 and has about 34,700 on the clock since I got it. The car is in great shape. The pneumatic side bolsters weren't working when I purchased it, but that was a 5 minute fix when we opened the back of the seat and saw a disconnected air line! Now they work perfectly and man, can they pinch you.

No plans to mod it beyond AMG Euro springs (if I can still get those) and possibly 18" Monoblocks from the E55.

Anyway--thanks for the great advice and I'm happy to become a member of this forum.

Here is the car after a full claybar, Mequiar's #2 and #9, and Harley carnauba wax. And a pic of my GTI, which is for sale now.

Welcome to the AMG family! Very low miles buy, my '05 C55 already has 49K miles. I have always been fascinated with C36s and C43s but by the time a was ready I jumped to C55. It seems to me that C36 and C43 are more unique and more AMG, if I can say that! Nowdays every 20th merc is AMG but back then it was really one of a kind car.
Anyway, enjoy your AMG in good health!
P.S. newbie question but what's hp and tq on C36 and C43 ?

Not sure about the C36 but, the C43 at the crank is rated at 302hp@5850 and 302tq@5800.

dear Mr Mustla or Hustla, what is this crap comments about our cars C43??
You know most people in this spesific forum (%85) own C43, it is very obvious that you are sore from something.

What is it dear sir?

(I am polite cause, people accused me of being "terrible guy")

Nope, it doesn't have those options. My GTI had the rain sensing wipers, which was a fairly nice feature. The Xenons almost killed the deal for me, because I really wanted my follow-up to the GTI to have Xenons. However, these headlights are at least at the same level as my GTI's halogens, and those were good for halogens. I can always hunt down a pair of Xenons if I want to put them on the car in the future.

I just love the two-toned interior you have. Wish I had one instead of black.

What comes to comparing C43 AMG and M3: M3 is an expensive boy-racer car, while AMG is a car for gentlemen - stylish and powerful. It isn't in your face all the time like M3 but when the gas pedal is floored, it gets the attention it deserves.

After a year of driving I too was feeling a tiny bit less excitment out of my C43 until I threw on a blower. I can be compulsive at times and speed/power is addictive. Never enough!! Now I plan on keeping the car forever as my first "really fast car". It's a very different car at this point, and I have hopes of improving that too.

A. It will be the first in my hopes of a fast car collection.
B. It will continue to be my only fast car collection.

......most likely B.

It is by far the perfect car for myself.

While fun to drive, the E36 M3 can never come to the build Quality,TQ,and feel of the C43 and I own two E36 M3's.Both for sale!

I just enjoy the hell outta my C43 since I've installed the 5.5L motor and b4 with the 4.3L.

I agree, although (to MBHustlas credit) the M3 is a better "driver's car" IMHO.....at least that was the impression I got after an hour long test drive when I was deciding which car to get (C43 or M3). To be honest, the build quality wasn't too bad, although the C43 is very nice in comparison. BUT....it just seems like kind of a dick comment to make to someone who is showing off their new car that they are proud of for the very first time.
