spring pads question

spring pads question
i went to my local benz dealer just now looking to buy some spring pads for my (upcoming) new suspension set up. they parts guy told me that the only available pads are as follows:
#2 fronts
#1, 2, 3, 4 rears
i know i read on this forum of people with other sizes, at LEAST #1 fronts. where do you get those?

The different between W201 and W210 part number is because of the different shape of the spring.
The W201 spring pad has flat surface where W210 spring pad as a grove where the spring will sit.
On the earlier W202 cars the edges of the spring is tappered, that's why they use W201's spring pad which has flat surface..

im obsessing over getting all of the parts and materials together so that i can have a relatively smooth spring-swapping experience. but you know what they say about the best-laid plans ...

I once watched a neighbor (when I lived in some cheap apartments when I was first on my own many years ago!) try to lower his 83 Celica without compressors. He had a jigsaw and a carbide blade for it. He jacked the front end up a few inches, got in there with the saw to cut a coil off. When he got about half way through the coil snapped off and stuck right into/through his fender. Lucky for him it was curved and as a result got wedged otherwise it would have poked a hole right in his forehead and we'd have seen pictures on those "faces of death" websites.

, Most of all PLEASE BE CAREFUL when dealing with springs. I only did my spring install without a spring compressor because;1. I didn't have one, and 2. I HAVE experience with cars and coil spring suspension. I have also heard the stories of people losing control of the coils and it's really scary. But, if you have the experience and know what you're doing, you shouldn't be in any more danger than putting jack stands under your car.m a x i m u s, Let me know when you are ready to do everything and I could definitely offer my garage and tools and help you with the wrenching and stuff(as long as you don't mind a short drive to SD
). Did you get your springs yet?

yes, i got my springs, and my spring compressor. although i havent decided on pads yet, of course. i have some wrenching experience, although i have to admit that ive never messed with coil suspensions before (except for coil overs, which are totally different in my opinion). you know, i MAY take you up on your offer. im up in LA, so not a bad drive down to SD. plus, its nice down there! i plan to do it in a the next couple of weeks...
