can you open the trunk without the remote or the dash button???

my trunk doesnt open all of a sudden. dont know why. tried using the remote and the dash button ... nothing. also unlocked the central locking and tried to push in the trunk cylinder button itself ... nothing. checked the fuse in the hood and it looked ok. there are also 2 other fuses associated with the remote trunk release, but they are IN THE TRUNK

has anyone had this problem before? i would think that if the electricals fail, that we could still open the trunk mechanically somehow, no?

Have you tried the blade insert on your electronic key?

yes, i inserted the blade into the trunk cylinder, and still couldnt open it. turned the blade key left/right (to unlock central locking system), and then pushed it in, still nothing happened.

i am starting to think that the trunk releasing mechanism is COMPLETELY electronic, which would be silly since that would mean that the trunk couldnt be opened if there was ever a problem with the electricals (like now)!

am i missing something?

Try again - I had to finagle with it too. I had to insert it halfways and turn to release the latch.

If the door are unlocked, doesn't the trunk just open by pushing in the round trunk "lock" piece? Works that way on my W202. If not, then I would suspect a problem with the vacuum actuator for the trunk lock.

I removed the battery in my 2000 C280 and without thinking closed the trunk. I was able to open it by inserting the metal balde, turning it to the left to position 1 (about 10 o'clock) and pushing in. There was no electrical power since the battery was sitting on my workbench.
