W202 C55 tramples factory limiter!!

Took the car to Mexico this morning for a nice casual run.

Went out this morning with a SRT8 member where we decided to have breakfast with an S600 so to speak You know who you are!!!!

Lil did we figure that the SRT8(Modded) and my Sleeper (modded w/SW,full exh, modded CLK320 intake , 5.5L V8)would have the S600 TT (Stock) as the main course.(He got stuck at his pre-limited speed while the SRT8 and I took off)

However to make a long story short to my amazment the Superchips SW with the delimiter feature works after all. What I'm saying here is that I PINNED the Speedo and she was still pulling like a scalded BEAST! Of course I slowed down b4 the SRT8 did because as I stated his ***** are as big as his motor. It also gets pretty windy at those speeds and the car feels a tad light which requires mucho concentration. I'll also tell you that whoever thinks these SRT8's don't run better think again.

I could not believe it thanks to my buddy in the SRT8(modded and driver has BIG *****(fearless)) pushed me which allowed me to see what she got.

All I can say is IMPRESSIVE. I have NO top speed limiter on my car I will be getting the car re-tuned by my superchips guy for my headers. The last step will be to get the VRP cams and then another re-tuning done.

Sorry I'm being vague about the car owners ,but I'm really not one to post these things on the forum.

All I could say is that this lil BEAST of a car never fails to amaze me This is one hell of an AMG and how IMOP MB should have built the V8 AMG C-Class in the first place. Afterall they had them in limited #'s in Europe with the 5.5L motor aka W202 C55. However ,thank God for the W208CLK55
Unfortunately the guy with the RS4 V8 never showed up while I was there because the SRT8 and I were ready for the second course on the menu, Baked 4.2L V8 ala carte!!!!!!!

On that roadrace event in Mexico did not the TV guy say the cars were hitting around 180 mph on the front straight before having to brake for turn 1? Is that correct?

I may have missed that one Jeff. Send me the link.

However this lil car is very impressive especially since I removed the foglight and I have one 3" BSR duct in that area with a 3" hose feeding the CLK airbox and another 3" hose feeding the air box from the hole where the passenger side air intake hose was. I only need to seal the airbox somewhat better.

Kudos to you and MBenzman, the topend on my car is ridiculous!!! I'll have to post some pics when I get the chance!!

Jeff bet ya love that 5.5L motor in there huh!!

How much power are you putting down in that thing? It sounds like a fun toy to mess around with.

Yeah dude, I've been telling myself I'd find time to do a dyno and run down the strip for over a year now.

Carl,

Look at your first post again and then mine. So in mexico how fast did those two lead cars go on the front straight? Wasn't one some sort of Dodge?

Yes guys this lil car is really a blast to drive. And it's the ultimate sleepr.

However I did run into a green Gallardo that demonstrated it's supremacy towards my car several times.

It was fun. At first for maybe a few .5 seconds I'm with him until he shifts. Then he's gone but in my view!!

He would be a job for the talon to handle(I only wish I drove it),but overall, this car with this 5.5L motor is truly a monster for what it is.

Nice to be in the league with BMW E39 M5's,V8 RS4's,Corvette C5's,Pontiac GTO 6.0',SRT8's,Ford V8'S certain 911's and other N/A 55's.

It's a healthy dose of competition on the straightaways until you put the Speedy Benz works into the suspension which would make the car an all around BEAST.

Man, you really love your car. I like mine too. W202s are great. Its too bad your not closer, I'd really like to line our cars up. I've spanked a few good ones so the cars pretty fast. I think silence is gonna have a strong one he gets things right too.

LOL! Hey nothin wrng with a lil friendly comp!I have a meet with some S/C SL500's March 5th at E-town. Let you know how all goes. We need to plan some kinda meet so we could all get together b4 the Summer or early spring where it is nice and kool out. late March or early April would be the best if it could happen.

I personnally think you and silense are gonna be more dangerous that these L's but we'll never know until we all somehow get together.

Oh wait a minute dude, after looking over their mods(SL500's) I don't know if any one of us would have a chance! LOOK:

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/blog.php?b=6

If you guys could get something together ,perhaps there is a track in New England I heard that we could all meet at!

Yea bro let me tell you with this motor the car is a blast. You need to drive mines,Jeff's(Speedy benz) or Steve's(C558mo) one day!!!

NE dragway is supposed to be a great one. Its in Epping NH. There is a pretty cool crew around here that I meet with once in a while that would probably go. I ran with one of them on the highway with a 07 GT3RS and a bunch of tight MB's, Lotus's, etc..baddest hour of highway driving I've ever had. Used almost a tank of gas (Higgensbeach) runs some sick numbers up here at NEdragway in his 211E55.

My tech thinks that once we get my intake work finished and meth tuned and done we should be able to put down 360whpish and def over 400wtrq

Carl,

What we need to do to really finish off the ram iar is to move the drivers side ar conditioner dryer unit to somewhere else so that we could run another nicely bent 3" pipe from the light fog light location up to the stock air box.

CAn you see if your guy Tasho(?) can give us the details on this job. could be worth another 10hp and more cool air and increased pressure.

Now just think if your 5.5 had it MAS tube bored out to 80mm and then the same for the lower elbow and lastly the throttle body machined to blend all that increased diameter piping into one nice veturey section that leads into the manifold with individual velocity stacks, can you spell even faster. I bet you can

Not sure who you're talking about (Tasho(0)),

but yes that area where the dryer is located is one of the sore pts that needs to be addressed. It also sux how the hood blocks the stck air tube locations from being exposed to the air directly.

Right now I've got the CLK 320 setup ,which I have wrapped with thermo tech. Seems to be working pretty well with the 3" tubes I have running into it. The setup leaving the box is the same size from the mass to the intake throttle body. Sorta replicates the RS4 V8 setup.

Also the CLK 320 setup avoids the heat from the intake mani almost completely. Just need to thermo tech the bottom of the intake manifold.

Would be nice to have an 80mm throttle body and a mass & tubing to match I agree! The velocity stacks would be the frosting on the cake.

PS: Ever notice on the 55 Kompressor cars they don't have an airbox sitting on the mani anymore. The air boxes as u know run along the sides of the S/C and get fed from the air tubes. I believe this was done for room and to avoid heat soak hence part of my reason as per MBenzman to get rid of it. The Kleeman S/C kit and the HPS I setup uses a very similar CLK320 or maybe even the same parts.

Seems to be helping quite a bit with the ram air setup I created. Pics are coming

I agree that getting rid of the stock air box is a must and is tops on my things to due list.

I guess I was trying to remember the name of the guy who did the Chip tuning on your car?

The air conditioner dryer sits right where a ram air tube needs to come up from the left side fog light location. So I really want to move it to another location. If that was done then you could add another CLK 320 airbox on the left side of the engine and run the same tubing up to the MAS and then connect the two sides with a SL55 Spilter.

Then you would have the advantage of two cool streams of cold air raming into the engine.

What do you think?

And then I have one more even better idea I am still working on that would be so cool as to nearly freeze hell over.

Details on that idea soon.

I have to admit, this ram air setup definitely adds top end high rpm power pwr I'll say that.

However I think the idea of having two Ram air setups would be fantastic if you had someplace to put the second filtered air box. I guess you'd have to develop a custom ram air setup like someone did on here using a splitter on the intake with some custom piping with two filters on the end towards the front of the car. Then you'd have to somehow box the two filters and create a ram air pressurized setup with these filters being fed air from the fog light area.

I think you just gave me another good idea Jeff.

Here is an ex. one I had built for my Talon. The owner of this car built the same one for mines.:

My turbo has a 4 inch compressor inlet as well.

is that the best #s for a stock W208 & W209?

i'm looking to go to E-town soon to see how close i can get to those #s.

btw, our 5.4L are stronger than ppl think. i easily stayed w/ 6.0L GTOs and SRT8 . They both have 400+ HP and TQ.

Here's what I found:

"Slowpoke" has the fastest trap by .01 mph and best ET as well (that I could find for a stock W208/55).

My best time for the day was 13.215, with trap speed of 107.98.

Fastest trap speed of the day was 109.01, with an ET of 13.332.
