Cheap Star on engine cover

Cheap Star on engine cover
Hello gentlemen, the star on the engine cover (or some calls it beauty cover) broke in pieces. I measured it and it is 3 1/4 inches. I called some people, and you can't buy it seperately, you have to buy the whole cover about $80-$140.
I am thinking about replacing it with a different 3 1/4 inch star. Do you guys have other Mercedes cars you can check the sizes of the any emblem, or trunk emblem (older models). I will go for that on Ebay, I just wanted to get some info. from fellow Benz owners first.

I replaced mine with a AMG logo emblem (ebay).I applied it with 3m high heat adhesive and it's been good to go since.I can't post pics until my car comes back from the mechanic.When it does, I will. I think Staplegun did the same thing also, maybe he can post a pic faster for you.

Currently I am communicating with some sellers from ebay, some have a 84 mm star, some have 2 7/8 inches. AMG logo sounds great. Can you lead me to that AMG emblem on ebay maybe? What was the diameter? Your idea might be a lot better than replacing the star...

I am still looking for a replacement ekmblem or star to replace the cheap star on the engine cover.
I believe it is 3 inches in diameter. Does anyone know?
