2 of OIL questions

Hello friends...

I have a couple of good oil related questions.
Past 2 times I change oil, low oil light comes on. There is absolutely no leaks, and smoke coming out of the pipe.

1)With ssomeone's advice, I bought the Oil Extractor. I have been changing oil with that for a long time. I always change the oil by looking at the original manual(not with me now). So, using the oil extractor, how much oil do you guys put?

2)Is K&N oil filter good at all? Or what do you guys suggest?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Castrol 0-30 Red Label, says made in Germany on the back. Only place I have found it is AutoZone. Some AutoZone managers will look at you funny if they don't have it and will most likely won't even know it exists.

Another oil I really like is Chevron Delo Full-synthetic 0-30. Realy great stuff, but pricey.

I don't get it.
I kept reading my words, and there is no where I asked what type of oil you guys use. I use what the books says Mobil 1 0-40.

2 questions were totaly different than what your answers were.

Questions again:
1) When changing oil, how much do you actually put in there in quarts?
2) Do you recommend K&N Oil Filter, or what do you guys use for oil filter?

thank you again, if I ask the questions wrong, I apologize for confusement

The car takes just about 8 quarts. I use Royal Purple, but any of the mentioned oils are probably fine. The Royal Purple I use in the summer is a little heavier, the 0W40 Mobil is very thin and I use that once a year during the winter storage months.

A good piece of mind is to check the ole' dipstick. You dipstick

That will tell you if you are in fact low on oil.

I didn't know K&N made oil filters for the C43, I use mahle brand oil filters which I ordered online as a recomended OEM replacement. The MB brand is too expensive. Order a bunch at once and keep them on hand.

The oil extractor is a must. Beer in hand oil changes.

1. Remove dipstick and set aside
2. Loosen but don't remove oil filter housing thing, remove oil fill cap.
3. Place tube all the way down into oil pan without bottoming it out and stopping suction(you'll see what I mean) I cut a 45 degree angle on mine to prevent this
4. After a few quarts have been removed carefully change the the oil filter and retourqe the housing thing withnew fitler and seals replaced.
5. At this point the extractor should be nearing 8 quarts.
6. If 8 quarts came out, put 8 quarts back in. Check the dip stick.

I think thats if bud.

I use 10-40w Castrol Syntec with MB oil filter which is only $13. My C36 has almost 100k miles and doesnt burn oil! Even though I drive it hard.

I been wanting to buy one of these extractors, what kind do you have and how much? to answer your questions, I add 7 1/2 quarts and after a day or two I recheck and add accordingly. The K&N is completely awsome! I first tried the Fram ( which btw the same company makes one with the label bosh, same thing) and the engine did not "purr" like before. the engine felt heavy/over loaded, thats the best way I can describe it. After I installed the k&n the engine just came alive, it ran smooth. highly recommend it.
