It's an iron block, it's just about bulletproof aside from the wiring. It'll take a buttload of abuse over the years before anything breaks, and at most probably a piston or rod... So imagine how far one could go with nice casual driving...

So yes, the "heaviness" of a c36 is offset extremely well by its durability and strength to last against the test of time.

it's just comforting to hear. I have 128k miles on my c43 and I don't drive my car hard at all... just good to know I have hundreds of thousands of miles left to enjoy.

Actually, the 4.3 SOHC V8 is an aluminum block... Lighter, but relatively less durable... LOL sorry for the misinformation.

But regardless, afaik ALL amg engines are stellar in performance and durability.

140K. Compared to yours, that's nothing I have to admit. Makes me wonder if a lot of people have been playing with the harness then, physically moving it around or something...

Although the C43 is an aluminum block and head (less stress on the head gasket), the cylinders liners are Alusil. Don't worry about wearing the cylinders out. I don't know of anyone who's "worn out" Alusil cylinders. Ingest something, drop a valve, or break a ring and that can destroy a cylinder. But wear? No.
